This means God created us as God; we are part of God, one with God. But we became afraid, fell into a deep sleep, and dreamed we were a multitude. But that dream lasted less than the blink of an eye, and was over. This that we call the world, is the memory of that dream.
God is "everywhere", but there is no space; there is no "outside" of God. God is formless, perfect, complete, holy (and wholly) unto Itself. God is All That Is.

If you agree that God created us in His own image, then God is within us. The problem is we divided Him according to different concepts and those concepts has become into various religions. God has never appeared to anyone in physical state, because He is everywhere, He is not a God for a particular person and He is not only the God of a single religion, He belongs to all of us, when our hearts are open to love, compassion and kindness toward ourselves and others, we experience the fullness of God within us and the safety of being within God.
