Greed is the reason for most outsourcing. Most outsourcing companies have three levels of personnel. The first level is proficient in English and can sound "American" on the phone. This is used to lure in the US companies. The second and third levels are progressively worse. (they are put into place after a long term contract is in place).
If you think I am lying, compare BofA's phone support now verses a year ago. It is obvious that you are talking to someone in Bangalore. A year ago you could swear you were talking to a US born citizen.

Give some time to the concepts of free enterprise vs. protectionism. FE nearly always works to lower prices, improve efficiency, balance trade, and share profit. P never has worked and never will. Use examples.

I beg to differ with Mr.phd....The accent in which these people have IS NOT AMERICAN! Recently we had a call and the woman asked for my husband, naturally she mis pronounced our last name, but I let her talk to him anyway. A sales call, don't like to be rude, anyway he asked her many times to repeat herself cause he couldn't understand her, come to find out it was a mortgage co that was wanting to offer us a lower rate, he tried as nicely as he could to tell her no...this went on for 10 minutes. We thought that would be the end of that but 3 days later she calls back, I talked to her, again couldn't understand what she was saying and she had to repeat herself over and over again, I finally blew up and told her look, if you want to talk to me you need to get someone on here that has better ENGLISH, I told her that I have not requested their services and I want them to stop calling me...have a good day....click....1 minute later the phone rang again...I answered it, there was a very nice English speaking person one that I could understand on the line from the same company. I let him tell me his line, and very politly I told him look sir I did not request for a new mortgage company, I know you have a job to do but like we have tried to tell the other person that keeps calling, we are not interested. I told her that she had a very strong accent that made if very difficult to understand what she was saying, I could tell that someone was on the other line tring to prove that I was just down right mean. I tried very hard not to be rude but they just won't stop, the man apologized and said they would not call again.I told him Thank You and hung up. I do know about the No Call List, but when you tell someone your not interested and they keep on and on and you finally hang up on them and they keep calling back what do you do. And most of all you can't understand a word they are saying, so why waist mine and her or his time. Why did they have to sell out overseas...why couldn't we keep it here in the USA???? I think that was one of the things gone wrong with this President....We shouldn't have made that move to outsource jobs to other companies outside the States
