In lovely Afghanistan they run mounted patrols. Pull security on convoys. They have a tough job.

Being a former MP for 6 years stationed at Ft Bragg, NC from 1997-2003. We perfomed gate dutys for oncoming traffic on post, law enforcement duties( radar patrol, respond to calls, first responder, escorts). I was in a Combat Support MP Unit. We went to the field. In the field we did route recon, convoy escorts, cordon and search and some basic field stuff. I was also in an Airborne Unit so we jumped out of planes. I had a blast my 6 years in. With deployment to Panama.

i'm relatively in a defense force police brigade in Iraq good now, so i can inform you precisely what they do: There are 2 components to the MPs venture in Iraq, one is detainee operations--which you have already pronounced. the 2d area (that I artwork with) works on coming up the Iraqi Police. Squads are "police transition communities" and that they meet with individual stations throughout Iraq and help advance the Iraqi Police right into a tension which could incredibly look after the rule of thumb of regulation right here in Iraq. The MPs are fantastically plenty in touch in each offensive available, as we are unfold in the time of each element of Iraq, and because we artwork so heavily with the Iraqi Police we are many times in touch in taking down suspected revolt leaders. As this war transitions from a Coalition tension led operation to the Iraqis interior the lead, you will see extra concentration on the Iraqi protection Forces (military, national Police, and native Police) and the MP place will grow to be that particularly extra significant.

I am at Fort Jackson and here they do the regular police stuff, but they also do a lot with the children. They act as crossing guards, ride bikes through our family housing, show up at all childrens events, and they seem to interact with the children well. I think its great that they are reinforcing that police are here to help people. They showed up at the schools fall festival and played with the children and they were out at Halloween inforcing the speed laws for our kids safety.
