NO- In everyday society we work with each other and compete for the same jobs. Both genders need to learn how to interact with each other. Both genders should learn the same things. Both can learn from one another. Whether a boy or girl is in the class doesn't change the fact that you are there to learn. A classroom is for educating people. Classrooms are separated usually by a persons level of learning. Some are more advanced and others are average{lack of a better word} others need a little extra help. If we automatically seperate the sexs we teaching our children that boys and girls are on different levels of learning? and if so then that implies one is smarter? Should we imply to our {men} boys that they can never be on a {women}girls level? or tell girls that they will never be on a boys level? JUST A THOUGHT!!!

First instinct is to say no because of the missed opportunities for social learning. Knowing how to interact with people of different genders is a pretty integral life skill; it's not realistic to expect to never have to work with a person of the opposite sex and a lot of social skills are picked up in school. On the other hand, there have been a couple of studies that show that girls tend to get a better education in an all girls' environment because of the lack of pressure. (girls at certain ages show a tendency to be less likely to speak up or show less confidence around different genders, also for social reasons.) And of course there are the religious aspects because there are religions that believe in the necessity of separating males and females. It's a matter of priorities.

I would say that it depends on the age group of kids. If they are young, say grade school age then I would say no becuase of the socail skills that need to be developed at an early age. As kids get older then I would say absolutely yes, in high school the teenage mind thinks about the opposite sex more than anything else (not that it is wrong) and it becomes a distraction. Good luck on your paper. :)

School is boring. Students don't listen in class when there are girls or boys distracting them. They would just be mad that they weren't in there and retaliate. Those who can't handel themselves should go to a diffrent class. Its not only those of the opposite sex that distract people. If parents want their kids to be in a class with just girls/boys there are schools for that. A public school is a schools for all races and sexes, not for just what the parents, teachers, or students want. It's what is decided by all. If a certain town wanted it they should just have a town vote on it. I think that that is a no!

Find the research that has been in the news about how boys and girls respond differently when in a mixed classroom and it keeps the girls down in math and science, and the boys down in language skills (reading, English, etc.). Then you will be able to form your own opinion.

Also find articles on the other side of the issue.... before forming an opinion.

it is ridiculous to separate the sexes. it creates misunderstanding of the opposing sex, and will not provide experience when dealing with the opposite sex, which is required for dating and in the work place.

the separation of the sexes (like most ignorant ideas) are rooted in religion. people think that women distract men because they are lustful (that's why many women are veiled in islam), similar is the case in classrooms. many will deny this, but it is true.

School is not based entirely upon "book knowledge" if you will. One of the biggest things we learn is interaction with people. If we seperate the classrooms, then I think we are robbing the students of the interaction that they eventually base themselves upon. So no, I don't think we should seperate the sexes.

If the people of that community want to do that,(parents) then it should be permissable. Who is the Government to tell people how to raise their kids? c'mon.

There are womens colleges in this country, but you watch, most of the people who will say this is wrong are women

Well, there's thing called segregation, it is illegal. Whether it be gender, color or religion. It is not fair to anyone if they are seperated, but learns the same thing, why not just put them together and let them learn the same thing at the same time?
