My 2 year old daughter got a really cool tricycle for her birthday but it seems like she's not ready for it yet. I push her with it but her feet drag on the floor. She's not interested in pedaling yet. Is she too young? Do they just learn to pedal themselves?

I know I need to teach her stuff (I do it all day), but there's a point when you need to back off too, and that's what I was asking!

I was in the same boat with my son. I got him a tricycle at 2, and he had no interest in pedaling. At first, we just pushed him or he moved it fred flinstone style (with his feet on the ground). When I pushed it, he would put his feet on the pedals which helped him get the idea, I think.

Then, about 3 months shy of his 3rd birthday, he suddenly got it one day. I remember being so ecstatic. I had just about given up on the whole enterprise.

Now, I wish I had been less frustrated. It is supposed to be fun after all. However, I am glad I decided not to give him a motorized car until he figured out the tricylce. I'm not sure if he would have ever figured it out if he'd had another option.

She may not be ready for it yet, but she'll learn. Average 3 year olds can pedal a trike, but all children are diffrent. If she is determined to teach herself, then she'll do it. Yes they will learn on their own. Just give her lots of incuragement, and help if she wants it, but don't be surprised if she moves along by pushing the ground at first. She'll get there!!!

no she's not to young for tricycle just keep showing her everyday or whenever you let her play on it that you have to use your feet to peddal and it might take a few weeks but she'll get the hang of it . you can let her learn on her own but it might take longer. or she might think she has to push her feet off the ground.

If you don't think she is ready, then you know what is best. If you want to keep working with her, that would be fine too. Just keep telling her and showing her. I remember this when I was little and my parents just kept saying, "you are supposed to do this" and putting my foot there and showing me that this is how to get it to move.

I have a daughter that rode a two wheel bike at 3 yrs old. I took the training wheel off and away she went. This is the youngest I have ever seen ride a two wheeler. They are going to pick up things when they really want to.

No she is not too young, however girls tend to catch onto peddiling a bit older than boys, give her some play time on it & sjhow her where her feet should be & what they should be doing & she will be riding like a pro in a month or two.

When she is ready to go she will learn how to make it move. My daughter used to just push herself with her feet. When she noticed that the pedals moved to she learned how to do it herself. She was about 3 buy then.

I painted my trike vivid vibrant purple for her. i do no longer understand how I controlled to color a trike at so youthful an age, yet my mom set me as much as do it exterior, & I enjoyed doing it. finished with purple bow, it replaced into great! As pre-schoolers, we additionally had my brother's common purple wagon & he a minimum of had a non-motorized scooter, the type a toddler rides via working alongside with one foot on it & one foot off. Later got here the skates & motorcycles & stuff. What approximately you? You did no longer let us know approximately yours.

I think if you keep working with her she will eventually get the hang of it, she needs your gudience to teach her stuff right now, and that is the most important thing, if you never teach her anything she will never learn anything.
