God hears all prayers, he just doesn't answer those that aren't in harmony with His plan (If you're asking for $1,000,000 it's not going to happen by His hand because it's not part of His plan. If you're asking for help to scrape by one more day, He's going to help out.)
My experience: My husband and I were coming home from Church (We're JW's) and we stopped at a McD's on our way home (I was pregnant and craving food). A woman came up to us and asked for some help, she told us that her car broke down on her trip to FL.(where we lived at the time) and she lost all her money getting her car fixed and doesn't have enough to get home and asked for a few bucks to help her get home in GA. All we had left for the week was $19 (it was Tuesday, my hubby doesn't get paid until friday, and that $19 was just enough to get us through the week for gas and food (I didn't work at the time because of complications with my pregnancy, so it was just his paycheck that we were living off of) I offered the woman all we had and she offered to pay us back. We told her not to worry about it. My husband (who can be pessimistic) was a bit worried that we wouldn't have enough to make it through the week, I told him not to worry & that God provides (Matthew 6:26) for what we need. Needless to say our night didn't end there (there were a few more things that made the night interesting) Well, my husband went to work the next day and wanted to tell his co-workers of the night he had (without expecting anything from them, he told them) Graciously, his Manager gave us $40 as a friend giving money to a friend.
I know it sounds upsetting..."Why give a strange woman money, she could be lying to you." or "That wasn't a very good choice, it was all you had."
We gave out of our hearts (whether the woman was lying to us or not, we gave the money to her with the thought that we were helping her get home) If she lied to us, then she'll get what she deserves.
My point is this: don't make yourself into poverty to see what God will do for you, but life comes along and makes things difficult. If you ask Him to help dealing with persecution, or making through the week because of an unforseen circumstance (Matthew 6:26) He will help you. But you must also be patient, keep you're mind open and remember that some prayers aren't answered for a reason (whatever it may be)
(P.S. there are many prayers I have asked, not all of them have been answered (yet, I'm still waiting))

God will answer your prayers. Just continue to believe. He answers my prayers everyday, I just don't realize it until I look back and see how everything fell so perfectly into place.
I have an example that proves God was with me.
I used to be an awful singer. I mean, the audience covers their ears awful. But, my dream was to become a singer. Somehow, today, I have a good voice, and am one of the lead singers in my choir, and actually earn money singing at parties. I thought I was lucky- now I look back and realize that luck cannot change a fact about you- only God can do that.

Yes, everyday God answers my prayers. I get to wake up every morning and have another opportunity to worship God. I have wonderful friends and family. I'm getting a good college education. I have more. Email me if you want to hear any of the more complicated ones. As far as why won't He answer your prayers, He does. He may be saying no. He may be saying wait a little while. He answers our prayers in His own perfect time. Just keep praying and be patient.

Yes he has but sometimes the answer is wait or even no.Sometimes we don't get answers because there are unresolved issues between you and God.He will always love you but sometimes the fellowship will be broken by an unconfessed sin or even an attitude.Ask God to show you if there is anything in your life that is displeasing him.Bring your requests before him with clean hands and a pure heart. In Psalms,David asks God to search his heart.Ask God to search your heart.I learned that's an important step to getting prayers answered. Also asking according to his will. The Bible says if you ask according to my will it shall be done.God Bless

well two stories i will keep them short, Number one is a prayer that God didn't answer, and now I thank him for it. I used to pray and pray that I would end up with my ex for the rest of my life because I thought he would be the best thing for me, Well we broke up and not to long after he got involved in drugs and started stealing, and now hes a dead beat. ( "Some times I thank God for unanswered prayers" ~Garth Brooks)
Story Number two, I really wanted children and I had PC OS which is cysts on your ovaries and it looked like i wouldn't be able to get pregnant, Now I have 2 beautiful children and haven't had anymore problems with my ovaries for several years.
Just remember that just because God doesn't answer your prayers when you think he should doesn't mean he doesn't care.

yes I prayed for a little over a year that God help change my character and help me with my addictions and he has taken away the desire to drink and do drugs and for this past year I have been clean and sober and am enjoying life to the fullest once again (praise the Lord) Just be patient and keep praying and don't give up,God's timing is not the same as our timing and he is not going to give us our answers when we want them but when he See's the time is perfect for his will and purpose. God Bless

HE will answer in time, keep your mind open HE works in mysterious ways...I have experienced so many examples of
Divine Intervention, recently this year I found another tumor on
my dog, and I said I can't handle losing her, I don't know what
I will do without her. So I put this on hold.....it was on her neck
the size of a cherry, and I would rub her neck to check if it
was getting bigger, after five months or so...it completely went
away...GOD as my witness. I had previously had a cancerous
tumor taken off her thigh...what do you make of that.

Yes.
Once I was very upset with my daughter. I went and read the Bible to receive some guidance.
Out fell a bookmark which read:
Be strengthened in the Lord, and in the might of his power.
Ephesians 6:10
I then read all of Ephesians Chapter 6

Yes, he answers my prayers, but often, it does not happen as quickly as I like. I often do not even realize how he has answered until I look back, and see how everything fell perfectly into place.
Keep seeking God's guidance and doing what's right, and I think you will also be able to look back and see that God was with you.
