In the long run, it doesn't matter. The story of Jesus, which is ultimately what the Bible is all about, will always be open to interpretation. This movie was one man's interpretation of what he has read or been taught. And that's ok. Just as your interpretation, even though it might be different is also ok. History is not the part that matters. Developing a relationship with God, Allah, Source, or whatever you want to call it is the important thing. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven was within. Finding that "Kingdom" is more important than dwelling on whether or not someone's portrayal of history is correct or not.

It is too bad that pictures do not depict the real beating. In South America and in some European countries they do picture a more gruesome Christ. The movie The Passion of The Christ, was very much how it was. If even he did only suffer 1 iota as much it would have been too much for the perfect man who did nothing wrong.

I think the "message" of the movie was supposed to show how much Jesus suffered .... Well, that message came through loud and clear. But it was not an enjoyable film to watch. Seems they would have spent a bit more time showing his deeds and maybe left the last ten or fifteen minute to the crucifixion. The title of the movie is misleading, as the PASSION of Christ was more than just his crucifixion. I always thought his passion was his message of everlasting life and how to attain it.

I agree and that i'm a christian. The bypass is a graven photograph that should no longer be utilized in worship (to no longer point out the certainty that he particularly died on a stake and not a bypass). besides, it would not make experience to remind each and every between the torture that Jesus went by using. If Jesus have been to have are available in our time and replaced into arrested and tried and placed to dying in front of a firing squad might all of us have a picture of a gun putting on the wall. What make certain might choose a picture of the device used to homicide their toddler putting on the wall, i won't be in a position to think of that God might the two.

I think the thing that Mel was going for was, No mortal man, ONLY the Only Begotten Son of God could live and endure what he did, and that NO mortal man had the power to end Christ's life.
If he had a few slashes and tears in his skin would it of had the same affect. NO....that's the point. He was the Son of God and He choose to give His life for you and for me. Whether you accept it or not is up to you. No one not even Mel can make a believer out of you. That has to come from the spirit, and if you want to believe. That is your choice! it's there for whoever wants to take the gift he so freely gave!

That is because no one wants to admit just how much He went through. The thing I loved about that movie was the scene when Jesus was being beaten and satan was stroking the demon as he watched. It showed that satan had really screwed man's thinking up. Remember the look on that soldiers face when the other soldier asked " What are you doing?" It was like he came out of a trance and realized his wickedness. That is how it was for me when I got saved. Suddenly I recognized my sin and the part I had allowed satan to play in my life up to then, and suddenly I could see Jesus and exactly what He did for me. Maybe the beating was that bad or maybe the beating on the movie was to symbolize the misery we cause by our sin. I am sure taking our sin upon Himself was far worse than any beating.

I think you are missing the point of it being a movie and also not to be too critical but you may want to study up on your theology a little and define your response of Christ not being tortured that badly?!Have you tried walking in Jesus's shoes do you really know what he went thru and are you willing to do the same for your Jesus?

The Romans were very serious about their punishments and knew well from experience just how much pain they could inflict without killing a prisoner who was scheduled to be crucified.
But that's not what was wrong with "The Passion." Where Gibson went wrong was in spending so much time showing this man being beaten and scourged that he forgot to tell us why we should care. Who was this man? Why was he special? Very little time was spent telling us why his suffering mattered.

I think the movie The Passion sent out the right message about the maker of it..... mel gibson is a strange man with strange ideals. His specific religious focus is a bit off if you ask me.
