Are the New Jersey and Philadelphia Regional Rail systems safe?

I want to find the cheapest way to get from Newark to Philadelphia and the rail systems appear to be the best option. Are these systems safe? For travelling on a friday afternoon-evening?

yes, i live in the area and i go on it daily. it appears to me as being very safe indeed.
