It has been commonly reported for many years that 1% of the human population is "schizophrenic." That is I in 100. Schizophrenia is a scientifically meaningless label. It is applied to a polyglot of mental disorders. A group of British psychiatrists have formed a group called "The Campaign for the Abolition of the Schizophrenia Label," CASL. They say that for those people who have delusions, hallucinate (see things) and hear voices a better term is "Dopamine Dysfunctional Disorder," DDD.

there are multitude of statistics. depending on the following:
a. sex
b. country, state, locality
c. age
d. marital status
e. degree of advanced stage in the malady
f. a combination of all the above --more or less.
conclusion -- i disagree with your premise stating "people end up to be schizo... " that is absolute non-sense, yes some do, some don't -- like some have cancer other do not. stop generalizing and putting man kind if one basket...we are born different and live and die differently. end of the case.

About one percent of the USA population is mental ill. Out of that one percent mentally ill population, ten percent suffer from a schizophrenic illness, either acute or chronic.

Consequently, there are about 30 million mentally ill people in the USA (3 billion X .01). Ten percent of the thirty million would leave about 3 million which is a rough estimate as to the number of people in the USA who suffer from Schizophrenia.

Cheers!

DSM IV- Revised Edition says it 1in a thousand people. But i think it is more than that because there are stages of schizo..... right? And most of the cases are not diagnosed, misdiagnosed or even not reported to the proper authorites. Are you one of us?

1 in every 100, regardless of environment, or any other extrinsic factors, it is completely non-discriminatory, however if susceptible to the condition, drugs such as pot (and perhaps stress) or stimulants can bring it on.
