Cohesion (computer science): a measure of how well the lines of source code within a module work together to provide a specific piece of functionality.

Cohesion (linguistics): the linguistic elements that make a discourse semantically coherent.

Cohesion (music): a Manchester-based four-piece band playing uplifting indie guitar pop.

Cohesion (structural): the sociological and graph theoretical conception and measurement for maximal group or graphical boundaries where related elements cannot be disconnected except by removal of a certain minimal number of other nodes

Cohesion(English) :the act or state of cohering, uniting, or sticking together.

Adhesion,as in adhesives is the property of sticking to other things. Cohesion is the opposite, the property of sticking to itself. If a substance has high cohesion it will bead up like water or mercury and exhibit a lot of surface tension.

It means "how well things stick together." A small group of men in the military is called a unit. When the bullets start flying and the "S" hits the fan, you want the men to fight, not run. When they stick together and efficiently kill the enemy (as he so richly deserves), the unit is said to have a high degree of cohesion.

Think of it like this.
"adhesion" is like glue it sticks to just about anything.
"Cohesion" is like TEFLON it does not stick to hardly anything but itself.
