Your Doctor is 100% correct on this one and most of the other answers are 100% wrong.
Head lice come from the same place as every other living creature. They are normal for humans to have in fact they cannot live anywhere else and have been with humans constantly for thousands and thousands of years. I don't want to get into a Creation v Evolutions discussion here but where ever you believe humans and animals came from and why...head lice came from the same place.
Did cats or dogs "start" somewhere? Well just because head lice seem yucky doesn't mean that they are somehow wrong.
By the way, no child ever "caused " an outbreak of head lice because they all caught it from someone else. It is a perfectly normal part of human existance.

I heard this when I was little and it has stuck every since. I heard that you can get lice from playing in the leaves in the fall. you can get all kinds on bugs on you and I think lice is one of them. I know you cannot just get lice from not washing you hair. The richest of the rich can get it.. it doesnt matter who you are...

RE:
Where do lice come from?
My doctor told me that you get lice from someone who has it, and that person got it from someone else who has it, and so on. But where does it start?

Roberto, I am not 100 percent sure, but I think lice come from bad hygiene. Like not washing your hair for days at a time.If someone gets lice there is a special kind of shampoo at the drug store that is used. All the bed sheets have to be washed and all members of the house have to be checked because they can be given to other members.

Sources of infestation (combs, hats, clothing, and bedding) should be decontaminated by laundering or dry cleaning. Pubic louse (crab louse) can be considered as sexually transmitted disease.
Please see the webpages for more details on Lice.

Lice develops in hair from bacteria of a low-hygenic scalp. Lice feed off of the uncleanliness of your head. Once developed, they reproduce and try to travel to other bodies
