I'm not sure what you mean, as I've never seen anything like that. Possibly you could be referring to an object in a boxed pizza for delivery that keeps the toppings of the pizza from rubbing off against the inside of the box. Otherwise, I'm as clueless as you are.

It prevents the top of the pizza box from sticking to the cheese on the pizza. All the better for the pizza lover!

So the Melted cheese on top of the pizza doesn't stick to the cardboard box it is delivered in. I cant help but wonder what you thought it was for...

to keep the lid from caving in on your pizza! the steam and condensation soften the cardboard. also if they have some breadsticks or something on top, the middle is the weakest spot.
