I have asked questions to Christians, not on here, about the Bible and the creation. I have asked the question if the story of the genesis is to be taken literally which they said it is, how did the earth get populated? Obviously incest, then I asked how can you be ok with incest?
Incest is not accetable in our society , why would God have approved of that in any point of human history? and I got very strange answers such as it was a necessity,or it was not a sin back then?what???????? how can anyone be ok with incest? no matter how far back it happened????????

Christians have many, many warped and bizarre answers to the ludicrous writings in The Bible. They always amuse me.

Since incest is a common sin today I would say lotsa people think it is OK.
It happened b4 there was law.

Most important the Bible story can be litterally true considering the following
It does not say this is the first or only creation. It does not say that He stopped creating after the first two. Lotsa stuff the report does not say that people just assume it says, as it seems you have.

It never even says the creation of life happened here on earth. Think about it this was told to people who could hardly write and the paper and writting tool was not plentiful. The story relayed was as simple as it could be made so even not to bright people could understand (and yet you do not understand) the whole story was not told cuz it would have taken up volumns and exposed indutrial secrets. Common be reasonable

You don’t seem to understand what is wrong with incest. There is a high risk of mutations with incest.

When Adam and Eve were created they had perfect genes and incest did not have the dangers it has today.

At that time there were animal men not of the image of God and these people did not have the perfection of Adam and Eve. When Cain married it was with one of these. Down through the years other men of the image of God intermixed with the animal people. As can be seen the life span of man decreased from hundreds of years too less then 50.

Today the evil of incest is the injury that it would cause not the act itself. Incest, like homosexuality and abortion is disrespect for the value of life and the intended purpose of God.

The laws of God are not irrational if you find conflicts it is because you do not know the intent and nature of God. Man was created from the perfect love of God and man is intended to share eternity with God in that perfect love. Perfect love can only be the result of choice.

Whether you believe in creationism or evolution brother sister relations must have occurred at some stage by necessity, whatever its current acceptability in modern society.

Brothers marrying sisters was frequent in old times, and if you are looking at the bible brother/sister (and many other forms of relationship) was forbidden at the time of Leviticus among Israelites but not other peoples.

Many consider marrying your first cousin as incest, but it is today (2006) the most common form of marriage, especially in the middle east. And the only places in the world where cousins cannot be legally married are certain states in USA.

And no, I am not married to my first cousin.

Your society's modern values about incest probably come from the same bible that you are sneering at

Do you have any other ideas as to how a family including (perhaps) a father, mother, brothers, and sisters might go about populating the earth?

Don't overgeneralize about "incest." It's kind of like taking someone's life. If it's necessary for me to take someone's life to protect the life of my children, I will grugingly do so, but this is quite different from my choosing to become a serial killer. Only one of these types of taking of another's life would be considered "murder." This is an analogy for what you call "incest." Under those rediculously unique circumstances, what else would God temporarily intend?

Incest is not acceptable to us because of the laws of our nations and the Law of God.

But before there were nations, and prior to the Levitical Law of the Jews, it was a commonly accepted practice.

If God tells a man "be fruitful and mulitply," and God KNOWS there's no one else for you but a sister or female cousin, it makes perfect sense.

Genesis 5:4
"And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:"

Not only is it screwed up, but it's genetically impossible. You have to have variety in the gene pool in order to build up a species that is capable of surviving all the diseases and crazy deformities that we can get. We all know what kind of wacky babies incestuous relationships create, and everybody has told at least one inbreeding joke in their lifetimes. Yet for some reason those same people understand the concept of inbreeding but still believe that our diverse and strong species developed out of inbreeding.

Not all of us who are Christian believe in "creationism". Did you realize that there are two creation stories in Genesis?

Earth Created in 7 days is one story.

adam and eve is another.

Just b/c stories are not literal fact does not mean that they do not contain literary and spiritual "truth"

Unfortunately that is how some of the statements in the bible are rationalized by some people if it was questioned.
