Itchiness is a symptom of lice, but sometimes being paranoid about having lice will make us worry about the smallest of itches. :)
I have worked at a summer camp where we have to give lice screenings to all the campers. The best way to tell (since your exposure is recent) is to comb through your hair (or have someone do it). Look in the places where your hair is thick. If you notice little white pieces that look like dandruff but they STICK to the hair when you run your fingers down it, those are lice eggs.
If you find you have lice, do the hair treatments and take all the sheets, pillows, blankets, hair brushes, etc and seal them in plastic ziploc bags or garbage bags. Leave those bags closed for several days and the lice bugs will die (since they will not have someone to live off of), then proceed to wash everything. After that, all of your things should be just fine!!

You need to comb through your hair and wipe the comb on white tissue paper to see what is really in there. Only if you find live lice do you need to be concerned. If you didn't rub your heads together then the possibility your caught them is pretty well zero.
Here is how to do that combing the right way
" If you have a fine comb and can locate some oil
like sweet almond, from a health food store, or
even sunflower from a food store you can do a lot
of good right now by removing any larger lice that
may be in the hair.
Don't use Vaseline, kerosene or mineral oils
they are awful to wash out and dangerous as
they can catch fire!
Just check before you start that the oil you have
will dissolve in your regular family shampoo by
rubbing bit of the oil on your fingers and then
washing with the shampoo.
Work a small amount of the oil into the roots of
the hair while it is dry and then comb gently with
the finest comb you can find.
You will get out an amazing mixture of rubbish
including big head lice and even some eggs.
10-15 minutes combing is fine. Just so long as you
round up all the big fat adult lice.
These are laying between 6 and 8 eggs, per day,
and are creating tomorrow’s lice. These will come
our very easily if you have them stuck in slippery oil.
Shampoo out the excess oil and chill out for a
couple of days then repeat the process.
You are harmlessly removing the lice that can and
will lay down more eggs so you have already started
to eradicate this population.
When you get your order switch to the NITMIX Wet
Combing Aid and this will make the head lice even
easier to get out.
Don't be fooled by how simple and gently this is; it works! "

Look at your hair closely and see if you have any eggs(nits) in your hair. You can use RID and comb the eggs out with the little comb that is enclosed. Lice are kind of reddish in color and fairly small. Also, your head might itch. If you dont want to go to the store to purchase RID, someone once told me that olive oil or peanut butter works(not sure if that is true or false) Anyhow, good luck!! Hopefully you got lucky and didnt get them.

People who have lice usually tend to itch a lot. To be sure a person should have it checked by someone else or if you do it by yourself take a comb and seperate your hair every where and look for tiny black bugs or eggs. They're usually found around the area of hair behind your ears.

the terrific element to do away with them is castor oil. Coat hair hide with disposable bathe cap go away over night. interior the AM placed shampoo on hair previously you moist it. Wash two times castor oil is long gone and so are lice. I do comb hair heavily to effective there are no nits left. Hair is conditioned and seems large. it is the terrific easiest approach i've got found.

have a doctor check it out. also if your worried about it go to the nearest CVS and get the RID shampoo. Use either that or mayo as a shampoo. Personally i prefer shampoo over mayo, but your choice. if you end up having it don't worry about it, not a big deal. do the treatment and be as good of new in 2 hrs.
good luck =)

It could be if your head is suddenly really itchey and white stuff comes out- like a person before me said but that could just be dandruff. I dont think there is any real way to check by yourself. Just go to your school nurse and she will be glad to check you. Or even ask your mom to check you with chopstick or straws or toothpicks or something. =)!
