When a person is given good news, the person wants to share that good news.
If a person has lived in darkness and is given the light and can see things and understand things as never before, it would make sense that this person would want to share this light with the ones still in the dark. Many people may prefer the dark because they are comforable there. People that have the light remember what that was like and show compassion.

Opposition? Are you talking about America? Christians own this country. Yeah there are the random groups of people who make a big deal about 10 commandments in courthouses and under God in the pledge of allegiance, but come on. Christians have shaped the way we have grown as a nation and they will for years to come.

Well, I don't like the way they are so forceful either, but they justify being a pain by the Great Commission. the main two places is Matthew 28:18, 19, 20 - and Jesus came and spake unto them , saying All power is is given unto me in heaven and earth. (19) Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Mark 16: 15, 16 and he said unto them Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16. He that beleiveth and i baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned.

An all inclusive God who doesn't preach exclusivity. Have we but to share what we have in common. We all very much need to do the same things we eat, breathe and sleep alike. We must be broken, open and vulnerable because without risk you can never know God or anyone for that matter. Your brother in the Lord.

A hearty belief in a religious experience that changed their life, perhaps.
Others feel enormous pressure to ave others, as they feel those who disagree with them are headed for eternal damnation.
Still others don't think about it, they just do it because their minister told them they should.
Some do it to sound smart, impress girls in their youth group, rebel against their nonreligious parents.
We all need to feel important and valued, and to be told that what we do is important. For some people, this is how they do it.

A desire to stamp out false beliefs about our beliefs by setting the record straight. After all, it doesn't take a people long to go from animosity to hatred to genocide. Look at German history.

Because many of them have faith and a strong testimony of their beliefs. They want to help others by trying to show them what they know to be true so that others can get that same feeling of joy.

Jesus.
Matt. 5-10
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
