I don't get it.

I want my polical representatives to do something about the health and safety of the food that's on my table, the water that comes out of the faucet, the roads we travel, the value of my earnings, employment, schools, infrastructure, child services, homeland security, international diplomacy, ending the deaths of our troops and innocent civilians in Iraq, etc... Gays make up 2% of the population according to Christian conservatives. End the discrimination AND MOVE ON TO MANAGING THE SIGNFICANT ISSUES THAT EFFECT THE AVERAGE CITIZEN! In other words, stop blowing that issue out of proportion and do your friggin' job!

Your thoughts?

God is smiling on you.

I think trying to pander to the morally confused people in the square states is an old tactic that won't work this time around.

We're on the same page here.... and I don't mean in a Mark Foley way!

I agree to a degree with your first statement: you don't get it.

Certain issues are more fundamental to others. Many who will vote against homosexual unions being considered marriages see it as an "attack" (or whichever term works best) on the family. If the family is the fundamental moral, social, economic, etc. unit in American society, it ought to be preseved. The other issues you mention are also important, but they're not as important to many as they are to you.

i totally agree with you! its time all of our children also have equal education no matter how much money a parent has! why is that issue being ignored! plus that jerk sent my husband to iraq twice! my three kids especially my little boy are so sad about it and he saw a picture yesterday of his daddy in iraq so he grabbed the phone book because he wanted to find a way to get to iraq to get his daddy back home and he is only 6!

Its disturbing and its realy none of the govt. business what goes on in a persons bedroom. I feel the same way you do that they should be focused on the more serious issues. I agree with you 100%

Unfortunately, but Republicans and Democrats have to milk their hot-button issues to mobilize their voters. Anything with subtlety or sensibility will get lost in the frey.

I don't think its political reps that blow it out of proportion, it is the gays.

Would the government deal with these issues if gays did not push so hard to get heard? I really don't think they would.

The Republicans are utterly incapable of governing - they CAN'T manage any significant issues. That's why they do this kind of thing.

Right on. (no pun intended ).

Elect a Democratic Congress in four days, to balance our government. Vote !

Both houses.
