Now me an' Cooter here are out on the front porch readin our baable as good old boys do, when we come across some stuff in gospel of St. Look (Ah think) Naaaw Cooter's been to cawledge an he can do some pretty fancy figurin', so he drags aat the original greek texts an he finds that efta the crucification it says Joseph of aaarmithea went to ole Pontius Pilate an begged him for the 'soma' which is the livin body, and PP says you may hev the 'ptoma' which cordin' to Cooter means the dead body. So is somethn strange goin on here? I mean ah would not like my faith in the good KJV shattered ba contridictions or a skism hevn' forbid Ah mean was Jeesus dead when they took him of that gooddam cross, or jest in one of them comma things?

It's the word soma in both places which simply means "body" in the greek; used in a wide variety of applications.

Mmmmyaah, interesting how some of those Greek words changed... especially the ones where obscure definitions were used even tho the interpreted word had common meaning and the Greeks had other clear words for the obscure meanings.

This might just be why I listen to my mom's version of Bible stories... Greek was her first language and she grew up on the Greek Bible and gee, those stories sound jist a wee bit different that modern Christians' reinterpretation. Haha, tho, Jesus still rose on Easter in those old Greek orthodox Bibles... but the story of Sodom and Gomorah, nope, not about the evils of homosexuality. ;)

AT LAST!!!!!!!!! Somebody gets it. Jesus was not dead when taken off the cross. There was no doctor to declare him as dead he was in a semi-coma. Jesus lived out his days in seclusion. He didn't rise from the dead and vacate his tomb as some may say.

The bible is the biggest book of contradictions with the biggest amount of holes in it and all the christians put their faith in to. Whaaaa Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaa. Bring out the lions Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

This is the fun part seeing how all the christians explain this one. They don't have a clue and most will preach crap from the bible and the others will make it up as they go along.

why are you bothered let me tell you my freind, jesus died on that cross he rose again 3 days later, why argue over trivial things the important thing is he died and rose again ,no one can dispute that no one can deny that and im sure there are more things to study than the word soma which incidentally means body which you seem to be making a doctrine on

When Jesus was taken off the cross he was dead however like the bible says he rose three days later. The bible says that the soilder peirced him in the side to see if he was dead and that Jesus hung his head and said it is finished and thats when he died. So basically he was dead not in a comma.
