how much is a "flat"?

my brother is attending cooking school and wants to know how much is a flat . in context his teacher said she would have a "flat of eggs" for each student next week .

I believe a flat of eggs holds 30 eggs. That is the size I buy at the store.

2 1/2 dozen.... or 30 eggs. It's the larger square container you see in the store.
