Actually, the Sabbath day is Saturday. As put forth in the Bible. But King James of England, when reforming the Church , besides re-translating the Bible, changed the Sabbath day to Sunday. The Sabbath day is the seventh day of the week. Which is actually Saturday. Sunday is the first day of the week. Just look at the calender.

Or ask a Seventh Day Adventist, they will be more that happy to tell you this. Then you will never be able to shut them up! SHEEEEEEEEEESH!

Since the observing of Sunday as a sabbath rest is not commanded or even suggested by the Scriptures, what about Saturday? Are Christians required to keep it as a sabbath in view of the fact that it is the seventh day mentioned in the fourth of the Ten Commandments?

Although the fourth commandment commands the observing of the seventh day as a sabbath rest, it must be kept in mind that the Ten Commandments were part of the law given to the nation of Israel at Mount Sinai. This law covenant was not given to any other people, and regarding the sabbath observance contained in it, Moses said: "You must remember that you became a slave in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God proceeded to bring you out from there with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. That is why Jehovah your God commanded you to carry on the sabbath day." (Deut. 5:15) The sabbath was given to the Israelites to commemorate their deliverance and to act as a sign of their covenant relationship with God. (Ex. 31:16, 17) That cannot be said of Christians.

Christians are not under the law covenant, because Christ fulfilled that law when he died upon the torture stake. "For Christ is the end of the Law." (Rom. 10:4) There is no justification in the Scriptures for separating the Ten Commandments from the rest of the law covenant and claiming that it was not brought to an end by Jesus but is binding upon Christians. The apostle Paul wrote at great length about the law covenant and how it was brought to an end, but not one word was said about the Ten Commandments as being a separate moral law that is eternally binding and the rest of the Law being a ceremonial law that ended.

It was one of the many anti-Semitic actions perpetrated by the early Roman Catholic Church when they decided to change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday... in an effort to distance themselves from the old Jewish traditions, as well as to eradicate the Jews [much more so, the Essenes].

They embraced Sunday as the day of worship, which coincided with the common practice of the pagan Romans at that time--circa early 4th century AD--who worshipped Sol Invictus, the Sun god.

And the rest, as they say, is eschatological history.

Peace be with you!

Because the Catholic Church changed the day from Saturday to Sunday just like it was prophesied in Daniel
7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Saturday is the true Sabbath.

My understanding is that the Jews regarded Saturday as the Holy Day and since Jesus rose from the tomb on a Sunday, the Christians decided to use that as their Holy Day which also helped them become separate from the Jews who did not regard Jesus as their messiah.

In the beginning, there was darkness, and HE said"Let there be light"and it was,and it was good. This was the FIRST day.HE labored for another 5 days creating all the rest of our known, and(to us)unknown existence. On the 7th day HE rested.HE proclaimed the 7th day HIS day a day of rest and worship. This day,Saturday, was observed by the three monotheistic religions until 1350c.e..Pope Constantine at that time,in a political move in order to isolate 'Christianity'from Judaism and Islam, declared Sunday to be the 'Christian' day of worship.

On the 7th day God rested.
We need to hear His Holy Word this day rather than finding so many other excuses like fishing, boating, lawn work, football, shopping, going to the beach, etc.
