B vitamins and hydration are the key. Also something to sop up the alcohol, don't drink on an empty stomach. Many good points have been mentioned already, but nobody has mentioned B vitamins. These are depleted by alcohol consumption, and need to be replaced to feel right in the morning.

a) Eat a good hearty supper. The steak will provide you with some B-vits, so that is not a bad choice.

b) Drink a bit of water alongside your booze. Doesn't hurt to have lemon in it. Sugar increases the dehydration, so pop is not a good choice for mix. I always get nasty hangovers when I mix my drinks with orange juice (maybe cause it's so yummy it goes down too fast, too often, I'm not sure), so I like a club soda or tonic water. Gin and tonic leaves me a fresh head in the morning.

c) Don't drink uncontrollably, know when to say enough and switch to water.

d) When you get home, eat some guacamole (avacodo) and bread or toast before bed, avacadoes are yummy AND rich in B6. Or pop a B-complex vitamin. Have alarge glass of water. Go pee. Go to bed with a glass of water beside your bed. Anytime you wake up, drink on that water.

e) Have a sport drink (gatorade, powerade, or a generic of that type, I like PC power quencher, it's cheap and yummier than the rest IMO) for breakfast to replenish lost electrolytes! Eat some crackers too, if your stomach is unsettled. Plain old soda crackers, salted tops. Another B vitamin wouldn't hurt, but before bed is the best time for that.

The two best things to do are to drink a lot of water and eat something hearty, like a steak.

Drinking water before, during, and after you drink alcohol will dilute everything so that you're not absorbing too much alcohol.

Eating a steak does the same thing. Red meat takes a long time for our bodies to digest. If you eat red meat in the beginning of your night out, your body will be busy digesting the food and will slowly absorb the alcohol rather than quickly, which is what gives you the hangover.

I'd also recommend waiting at least 1-2 hours from when you stop drinking until you go to sleep.

Have fun!

water, water and more water - hyrdration.. for every drink you have, have some water.. you might be in the bathroom a lot, but hey, once you 'break the seal' you're doing that anyway.

also, I find if I stick to drinks that use juice as mix instead of pop, I dont' get as much of a hangover (avoid cranberry though, it'll dehydrate you) Try not to either a. smoke to much, or b. if you don't smoke, be around too much second-hand smoke - that definitely contributes.

Finally, I ususally try to eat something before I go to bed, it's not always a good something, but nonetheless, it does seem to help. Apparently honey on toast is an excellent choice to stave off the hangover.

That's the best I got, hope it helps!

Take something for a headache along with you, and before you go to bed or pass out make sure you take it. Ive found this is the easiest way to prevent hangovers. Works every time for me.

stay well hydrated. A good rule of thumb is: for every alcoholic drink you have, drink a glass of water or a glass of sportsdrink (like gatorade).
Eating some food before going to bed will also help, but don't overeat. A couple slices of cheese pizza will do, or some peanut butter toast.

I have found that if I take a vitamin and drink a large glass of water before I go to bed and eat a small meal as soon as I get up in the morning I go fine after a night of straight up partying

well if you're going to drink... try to match each drink with one glass of water. Then if you still feel like crap the following morning, drink lots of water with a few aspirins. Fresh water is really the only way to get rid of a hangover.

Don't drink dark drinks. (Brandy, whisky, Dark Rum etc) They absorb some chemicals from the wood barrels they are aged in and this is what causes bad hangovers. Drink plenty of milk before you start drinking and drink water between drinks to keep hydrated. Only drink one type of drink. For example don't drink beer then switch to Vodka. Best tip of all. KNOW when to stop!!
