If you daughter is leading a good life with strong values, she's on the right track, even if she does listen to Courtney Love. Your daughter has chosen the ultimate influence in her life, and has placed her life in God's hands. Trust her to make the appropriate decisions for herself.
My husband and I are practicing Catholics and both listen to music that is less than holy. It's entertaining, but it does not cause us to turn away from our faith.
Part of being a Christian is being able to live in our current society happily and still live a life in Christ. I believe that can be achieved, even with Courtney Love records. :-)

Who says that Courtney Love hates God? I read a bio on the Internet about Courtney Love, and except for a really hard life, and a drug problem, which she has recently overcome, and now lives with her daughter again. I think listening to Courtney Love's music is fine. I have one of her albums, Celebrity Skin, and I love it. I don't think Love hates God, she might not believe in a Christian God, but that doesn't justify you saying that she hates a Christian god.

Well, I guess it depends on her reasons for listening to the music, you know? One of my absolute favorite singers is Sarah McLachlan and she's more Athiest or agnostic but I still listen to her because she's very talented and I can relate to her music. It's kind of like asking if a Christian should be friends with someone who doesn't believe what they believe. There's nothing wrong with that.
Now I'm speaking in general. But Courtney Love is definitely not a good influence on people but I don't know your daughters age or anything. But really it's not a big deal. Heck, I listen to Madonna...

People grow up, watching her closley, stop her listening to the music, come on take a look at yourselves and the music you listened to when you were younger and the music you listen to now. Most music lyrics out there are about 'un-godly' things even back in the 50's where things were all so innocent. People are jumping on the band wagon and getting all pent up about lyrics in music; Courtney Love sings about her troubles her pains, what is so bad about that. Get a grip!

Anyone can love god if they're never exposed to anything else.
If your daughter can listen to music, read literature, or hear speakers who challenge her beliefs and she remains faithful and loves god, then it will only strengthen her beliefs.
If a source like Courtney Love is sufficient to challenge your daughter's beliefs, then perhaps they weren't that strong to begin with, and you can work with her to show her why your faith's message is a better path than Courtney's. Wouldn't you sooner be able to this now, rather than having her suddenly getting her faith shattered when she encounters criticism years from now, perhaps when you aren't there to help her?

You're a terrible parent if you can't even figure this out. There is nothing wrong with your child listening to 'Rock & Roll'! Did you time travel from the 50's or something? I thought this had been settled. The only thing that your daughter will get from listening to music is an appreciation of music.

I think your daughter is smart enough to know that Courtney's music is good but she doesn't follow Christ. She likes the music so don't take it away from her. Your fears of course are real and valid though.
If Courtney Love was singing about denouncing Jesus then I would be concerned.

Is she hearing what you are hearing? Is she interpreting the music the same way you do?
My son is a big Rob Zombie fan. I was not thrilled with this. One day my son started explaining why he likes Rob Zombie. He knew Rob Zombie's entire bio. He explained why he likes Rob Zombie in terms of the guy's professional accomplishments (music, drag racer, actor, director, video game design), how his upbringing influenced his work, and what his goals in the entertainment industry are. After hearing the explanation I was okay with my son being a Rob Zombie fan.
Ask you daughter, in polite and curious terms, why she like Courtney Love.

These things are troublesome. This is a conversation for the two of you to have. Talk to her about the lyrics, the music, what it stands for. I am a Christian and I have listened to some pretty awful music in my past. While, I now listen to mainly Christian music, I can understand your concern.
I would suggest you talk to her, find out where she is coming from, you will learn about her faith while doing so.
