I have done 4 yrs of Air Force JROTC and 2 of AFROTC in college, I planned on going to the Air Force as an officer but right now im really tired of school plus I dropped ROTC in college because they showed to much favoritism to a few cadets and it really turned me off they only needed me when they wanted me to teach a few senior's how to twirl a rifle , half us did not know each others name and in Army ROTC it seemed like they were so close or connected... I went to all the recruiters and got basic info I really liked the Navy recruiter... I would like to be a Linguist ( Korean ) just wanted to know which branch would treat me right or really need me?

I'm in the army and have been around all the branches. If u like good clean living then go air force or Navy. I suggest though if u r going to be an officer go army or marine. The air force has a huge respect issue and like u already experienced that buddy system is even worse when u join the air force. Army is probably the best for u if u want to be Intel (linguist). Also the army and marine...especially marine r tight knit groups for the part and the thing about the those two branches is u will laugh and cry and experience life with not just u but u will have 15 20 people around going though the same thing u r...it is truly a brotherhood...or if u have issue with that then a family and if u do go airforce

Stick with the Air Force...dont let a bad stint with AFROTC college deter you....shy away from the Army or the Navy. My dad was in the Army for 21 years and discouraged it. I've been in the Air Force for 5 years and have enjoyed it. Alot of my buddies that seperated regret the decision to seperate. Once you get in the REAL Air Force, it'll be quite different....trust me. If push comes to shove, enlist in the Air Force and finish your degree. The Air Force is better for career options than of the other sister services IMO.

Forget the recruiter. He will tell you what you want to hear. Language background or studies go Army. They are well respected. I really hate it when folks cut down other branches of the service. I am Air Force and I agree they are the ones with respect issues at times. Each branch has much to offer and fine hard working people. Take it from someone in the service that knows not a spouse.

Recruiters ARE salespeople - known to make promises they simply cannot keep.

Look at what the branches actually do.

Navy - out to sea A LOT. Expect to be gone for months at a time, sleeping in a tiny little room on board a floating city. Respected, yes...just gone a lot. Not so good for someone who likes terra firma and who may be prone to homesickness.

Army - ground troops - first line of defense Unfortunately for them, they are not very well respected in the military world. In my opionion they are often equivalent to blue collar workers in the civilian world.

Marines - true first responders, ground troops, and in my limited experience and exposure to them- being a special kind of crazy is practically a job requirement.

Air Force - usually stationed farther away from the DMZ than army. Not out to sea. Still can be gone a lot. Better respected than the army, and only special forces and EOD troops have to have the "crazy" element.

Its not an easy choice, but I would suggest the Air Force. I do believe there is a linguist program in California still. Talk to that recruiter and be prepared with a list of questions...and dont let them feed you a line of BS.

Do more research, go on-line, check websites, talk to people in all branches, if your going to be a linguist every branch pretty much needs you and never trust a recruiter or just finish school and use you skills as a civilian.

Sounds like the Army would be best for you, you could get stationed in Korea. Second best bet is the Air Force since you spent so much time in AFROTC.

I can't tell you which. I'm Army and love it. I've been to Iraq and I'm currently in Afghanistan. Some points to ponder are:

AF generally has better housing and post.
Army promotes faster
AF has shorter deployments usually
Army if you deploy longer you get more tax free, and hazard duty pay.
Both have bases in cool places. I've been in 6 yrs and have seen 13 countries.
I think the Army has more linguist slots.
The choice is yours. Choose wisely. Good luck

If you are uneducated, any part, according to John Kerry. Me personally, take a branch not because you like the recruiter, they are salespeople.

with your background i think ANY branch you choose would be very lucky to have you..i spent 4 yrs in the USMC so i am a littl biased...but i think for what you want to do the Navy would be your best choice...good luck no matter which branch you decide on joining..
