Hi,
I was a cutter for years. I don't know if I'm cured now, but I haven't done it 3 or 4 years. It's a bad coping mechanism. I've learned how to deal a little better since the teenage years, but it's still hard.
You can talk to your parents. I wish I would have sooner. If you absolutely don't want to, you can talk to a guidance counselor or nurse at your school, if you're in school. There are also some free health clinics in the suburbs of big cities. You can find the addresses on the internet and check one out. There are anonymous help lines. Search the internet with "self mutilation" and look for local places for help. I'm sorry I can't find any phone numbers off hand. If you are suicidal try here: http://suicidehotlines.com/
I hope you find help. Remember, you are worth it. And the pain doesn't have to last forever. Good luck. You can always come back here and talk.

well...its worse when they find out on their own (TRUST ME!) I've been cutting for about a year and a half, I'm 14. Is tarted at age 12, I'm met someone online and I've been talking to her for over a year now. She cuts too and she helps me A LOT. You sound like you want help and that's really good. Try calling 1-800-dontcut i don't know if its anonymous or not...but you can't be forced over a phone to say anything you don't want to so if anything at all they would have the phone number you called from. Call from a cell phone or a phone booth if you are worried about that. They will listen to you and help you. They care and want to help you stop. I wish you luck.

You should have a really close friend, or a teacher, or anyone you feel like would understand and not freak.....What do u mean by anonymous? There is always teenlines or chat rooms you can find, if you want to stop and i'm guessing you do. But dont let anyone tell u (online i mean) who you should tell and you must tell someone, b/c sometimes it helps to do it all by yourself...thats what i did.
You can stop if you want.
if u just need to talk you can email me if you like.

I understand I did that too as a teen. You can talk to people who understand like a counsellor, remember they were young too.
There are 12 step groups full of loving people, if you qualify with any other problems, like gambling, drugs, alcohol, food or sex.
Watch who you tell cuz they can send you to psych ward at hospital which sucks. You could check yourself into a much better place if its on your own will. Talk to a local suicide consellor on the phone to find out local info. They are great just to chat with. Their number will be in the first page or so of the yellow pages or white pages.
You can always tell me anything, I'm at dthain@yahoo.com
God Bless you, good luck sweetie and I am SO proud of you for being honest and reaching out tonight. Thats a great step!

Yes, tell your parents whether they freak or not. Trust them, listen to them, and do what they say.
