Read the Bible and pray first thing every day.
The impact varies but at least the habit expresses ones priorities.

I do practice Zen Meditation every week end. It is refreshing and nice. But if you are into exercise and fitness.... try yoga classes or Shibashi, or Tai Chi. These things might help you. But everyday, I personally practice simple meditation before sleeping. I just keep quiet and still for fifteen minutes then review the things than happened to me during the day. From waking up to the time i am in at that very moment. A single scented candle might help. (Try the lemon scented one or lavender! )This helps me sort out the things I had achieve during the day and probably plan for the next move the next day. This simple exercise might help you. Good luck!

First of all, I'd like to clarify something. True meditation is to clear all thought and action for any moment at a time or as an alternative, become totally unaware to everything except a single thought. Useful for disciplinary purposes. Anything else is not meditation.
Guided visualization, which is of equal importance, deals with imagery, sensations and the like, which is often mistaken for meditation. This can potentially be useful for relaxation or practice for astral projection.
So then, if you understand, it leaves few actual techniques.

I concur with myriad_soul, and would like to share a guided visualization with you instead of a meditation technique, if that's all right.
This isn’t one I do daily, but it helps when you are exceedingly stressed:
(For my Pagan friends, the first step would be to ground and center.)
Position yourself comfortably. Sit, lay down, stand, lean, bend, whatever - just make yourself comfortable. Be sure that you are not only physically comfortable, but also mentally comfortable - be in a comfortable environment. Play some relaxing music, unless it distracts you - you want to be able to concentrate entirely on your meditation.
Once you are entirely comfortable and in an area free of distraction, close your eyes. Imagine you are in a bubble of positive energy. It should extend a fair amount from your body, but not so far away that it is larger than the general area that you're in. See the energy - feel it brush your skin. It can look like anything you want - mine looks like thick pink smoke.
Visualize yourself as a hollow outline. You are filled with negative energy. See the energy - feel it churn inside you. It can look like anything you want - mine looks like thick charcoal-grey smoke. Take deep breaths. With every breath in, you breathe in the positive energy around you; with every breath out, you breathe out the negative energy inside you. Take as long as you want, until all the negative energy is inside the bubble, and all the positive energy is inside you. Don't open your eyes just yet.
Now pop your bubble - send the negative energy back into the world where it came from. Or, focus it into an object if you prefer, to burn when you're done (I prefer tissues - they're completely flammable and always handy).
Fabulous stress reliever.
Blessed be!

I would encourage you to find your local Zen center. It is very direct and helpful. I have done this for twenty five years.
