By working a full time job and several part time jobs, cutting back on spending and waiting late in the year to turn on heat and not turning on A/C until it gets too unbearably hot. Patching and mending clothes, making shoes go another year, no more eating out, movies out, unneccessary trips to town, etc.
I make a good wage but members of my family have been hit hard and they really have to tighten up. After a job layoff the only jobs available are low paying jobs. (Going from $15 an hour, down to $10 an hour is quite a drop) These people lose their homes, have to sell their vehicles or have them refinanced to a lower payment, move closer in to save fuel...I've seen the destruction of their quality of life, firsthand. It's not right.

I do very well. I stayed in school and got an education. Assistance as in the government giving a handout? First of all, you have to get off of your butt and look for a job. One will not come and find you. The democrats started the welfare system which has done nothing but make some persons like yourself think that you are entitled to be given something for nothing. If you stay in school and learn everything you can and graduate, there is no reason why you cannot get a college education or technical training. This is the key to a successful life which includes having a job that pays above minimum wage, along with making good financial decisions, staying off of drugs and alcohol, and not having a baby until you are educated. This enables you to be able to find employment so you can support yourself AND your child/ren when you have them. If you cannot support yourself, then please do not add to the burden of the taxpayers with having children you cannot support. This goes for the guys as much as the girls. Do not expect for the tax payers to support you if you are not physcially or mentally disabled. The thing that I see far too much of are the persons who cannot type, spell, and communicate on Yahoo answers. Those are the ones who will not be successful if they do not make an effort to change this by studying and making good grades while attending school. Stay in school and while there, stay focused on making good grades.

If you want work, you willlikely find work.
If you are too good to do the work that is availabel, or want more money than the available jobs pay, then that is your own account.
"The unemployment rate for the month of August was 4.7 percent, a slight fall from the 4.8 percent in July. Total employment rose by 128,000 in August, slightly more than the revised 121,000 increase in July." --EconEdlink.com
Economists argue about it but 4% unemployment may be as low as employment CAN ever get in a real world environment. That means that right now there are very likely a lot of jobs that are going unfilled becuase there aren't enough qualified applicants.

Great question, banks are making record asset aquisitions on the balance sheet when Americans fail to cover their finances...
The politicians who pass legislation for such interests don't give a hoot about the common blue collar and now white collar worker with kids and mortgages.
I don't like what is happening either, but our chance to change things is this November 7. But when dems take over they go after the corrpution in government....

Have you ever been into an American Casino? They are packed on the week-ends with 100 of thousands of people. You can't find a black jack table for less than $25 a hand in the big casinos and you can't get a seat. They cant be hurting that bad.

our parents get offshored if they are good enough, we go to top-flight international schools, come back with a world-class highschool education, attend an ivyleague college, and go on to have a great life. then there are others who live crappy lives cause they are in desperate need of jobs and of assistence. =)

1. Strong Immunity system(Don't get sick!) 2. Be born to a rich family. 3. Be born smart and shown paths to success by familiy and friends. It used to be "creative, hard worker, smart" but that ended in 1986 when the Baby Boomers got greedy and changed the rules

There are no lack of jobs in my area, just a lack of workers. Not sure where you are getting your information from, but it is not true for the whole country.

Not here. So, low skill and wage jobs are being filled by illegals, go and do something else.
Why is it that Americans feel entitled to make what they want, only with the skills they currently have. If you want more, earn it by being better at what you do.
