you know what i'm talking about....the young (usually young) punks and thugs whose cars are their everything in life. They devote all their time and money to turning their cars into "hoopties" because they watched "The Fast and the Furious" one too many times. And then they buy the biggest stereo the can find and drive around with the bass cranked up. And how come the cops never do a goddamn thing about it?

I laugh at them now, but I was one of them 18 years ago, lol.

by the way, a 'hooptie' is a junky car. Listen to sir mix-alot, he will explain it.

why is it I am picturing you like this: 80 years old, standing on the curb, raising your fist and shaking it, saying, "damn teanagers!"?

why are you so worried about what others do? I mean you sound kinda mean saying all that. If people want to spend their money to fix their cars the way they want to then whats wrong with that? Its just another hobby. I mean its obviously not everyones 'thing' (like you for example) but I think as long as they arent trying to DRIVE like the fast and the furious and dont endanger other peoples lives on the road, then who cares? Let them have their fun, they are young and they wont be young forever. Plus cops do give fines for disrupting the peace (if the music is too loud), but mostly its because they wont be able to hear sirens when police or firetrucks or ambulance is trying to clear the road. I think its better than if you have a next door neighbor that cranks his music up all day and night in their house next to yours or worse yet in an apartment next to yours where you can hear everything through the walls. Am I right? All you have to do is drive away . . . and go on with your life. Stop being so grouchy

I personally think that cars are a good way to keep the "young" from spending their money on other things, like drugs...... and contrary to popular belief, not everyone that has a "bass-thumping machine" is a punk..... I'm a 19 yr old female and would give anything to have a Continental with suicide doors and chameleon changing paint with a out of the world system.......

Just to correct you-"hoopties" are NOT pimped out cars, they are the exact opposite. A hoopty is a beat up junky car, but unfortunately some morons feel the need to "pimp out" their "hoopties"...don't ask why. I can't help but laugh when I see cars with plastic covering the windows, a spare tire on the back and rust holes so big I could fit through-yet somehow they had the money to put in a loud stereo system. hehehe
I do know the police in our area doesn't tolerate it as much as other cities or counties but that just makes me fortunate.

I amuse myself by thinking about what their lives will be like in 20 years when they'll have hearing aids in both ears. It makes me laugh! Of course they won't be able to hear me laughing, but that's ok.

As for the police doing something about it... um... they are in cars... and don't stay in one place, where the police can respond, unless they are really dumb. If the police hear them (which they usually don't 'cause the little rascals have the sense to turn it down when next to a police car) they can issue them a citation for disturbing the peace. Unfortunately, most police officers do not have the time to drive around hoping to catch vehicles with boomin' thumpin' stereos.

I like cars the have been tuned up and have a good system in it. I just think with today kids they really don't care to much about the car next them when there sitting in stop and go traffic.

The police won't do anything unless someone calls to complain. The worst that can happen is the punks could spend the evening locked up for disturbing the peace. I don't care for people to blast their music into my personal space either.

In some states it's against the law. They ticket you for exceeding a certain decibel. Most states don't enforce it. However, I don't think I'd go as far to call them "scum".

I know how that is...they are all over my neighborhood... here in New York.

I know some of them and you are correct...they spend all their money on their vehicles because I have seen some of their homes... they have nothing in their apartments...No furniture, Food etc.
