It will be a long and tough way to go. The Kurds have already began the process of rebuilding, and growing their own lives into a free one.But the Shiites, and Sunni's have too many generations of killing and radicalism built into their own cultures for any real change to happen for at least a few generations.
The problems is that unless somebody steps in and makes them change, they wont, they have no idea how to live any other way, somebody has to be the "parent" and make them stop fighting long enough to get their children to see how to live a peace full life. Then the change will slowly come.
Look at how many years it took for the Russians to realize that there can be a better life, if they change the way they ran their country. Don't forget even though they may have access to television and computers, they only see what they are allowed to see, and in Irag, as well as Iran, you are taught in grade school to kill and hate anyone different then them. that is all they see and so that is how they think life is supposed to be.They dont hate us because of anything we have done, they hate us because of who we are.

They don't give a damn about democracy. Look at the fighting between the Su. and Sh. The republican plan is to break off the north into Kurdistan to control the oil fields and let the tribal leaders have control there and to hell with the rest of Iraq. It's another Somalia. We cannot win and the death rate is too high for most of us to tolerate. Two Lt. Colonels were killed today. What does that tell you? That hasn't happened since the American Revolution. Not that they are better than anyone else, it's just that as soldiers we are trained to protect these officers. Remember when Saigon was being evacuated? We better have something better than that up our sleeve! Bush's cluster war.

Well they took step one, they elected a President. It will take time for them to learn how to be democratic but no one knows if they will succeed. I hope so & I think so, an ally in the Middle East would be a real asset.

yes they are free now to kill each other if they want.
It is so much more than purely democratic way of life,
They have a entire social system, honor system, and business life system that can't be changed in one generation, you are looking at 15 to 30 years to make real changes in thier lifestyles.
Given bribes, minor theft as payment from employment, honor killings for people who dishonor your family or leaders is just a way of life taught to the young

They are so use to someone telling them what to do that I don't think they could even wipe their a-s-s without proper instructions from their leader. No hope for that country or any others in the middle east who have always had a dictator to lead them around by their tail.

Yes, but it is not advisable because you have a good chance of not living very long, or even a necessity of changing the life.

Not possible! Islamic religion does not allow for any democracy as the westerners know democracy is. The word democracy or the practice of democracy, is not addressed in the Koran.
If there are any Muslims seeing this please correct me if I am wrong

possibly.. but they hate americans and i could see why.. americans are slobs.. well.. not all.. but some.. the majority..
it's possible, but it won't go easily.. with communism, the rich and the poor are equal. they get everything the same.. and since iraq is a 3rd world country.. it'd be hard for them to get anywhere.. everyone would then become greedy.. i believe that their way is good enough for them..
but.. it's still possible..
