Have atheists ever been persecuted??

I am aware of accidental persecution, as in thinking a person would or would not feel persecuted by a time of un-named silence, and the occasional like a yankee would suffer in a southern state, and the occasional prostyletizing by JW's or some such action we all would prefer not to eundure, , and not getting certain tax breaks on rare occasions,

I'm asking about hard core, persecution like lose your life, torture, hang um from the hightest tree, oh mama would ya wait for me dot dot dot , baw bawww

some kind of group bonding experience

Yes all the time but it's usually done by other atheists.

I can't think of an instance. Heretics were persecuted in Europe, but they were not "atheistic" in the strict sense, but unitarian. The notion of modern atheism did not even arise until around the French Revolution.

There was an instance of Christians being persecuted and being charged with "atheism" under the Roman governement because they did not bow before the state gods. This is addressed in Justin Martyrs Apologia.

No... yet while the saying is actual, "What is going around comes around" they're going to some day face what a number of their previous authority figures have finished to others. every person undergo in concepts the circumstances while they tortured people for no longer believing interior the only actual god? Ya know, that's just pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Exactly that sort of persecution has happened countless times, and happens now. I'm talking torture, homosexual rape, heterosexual rape, mutilation and murder of non-believers at the hands of self-proclaimed "christians". I've had to fight my way out of such a situation. A life was lost during that fight. You think you're bad enough you can succeed where he failed? Well, guess what: you're not.

Drop into the deep South and declare yourself an atheist. They won't hang you right away...just vandalizing at first. The car, then the home. Then they'll move up to killing your pets. If you're dumb enough to stick around longer than that...I honestly don't know. The folks I knew had sense enough to move at that point...
