There's no way of knowing for sure, but she sure sounds cute :-)
I guess she can be whatever you want her to be, so tell people she's a a lab mix. :-) I'm sure when you take her to the vet for her first visit, the vet may be able to give you a good guess.
Congratulations on your new pup :-)

Heinz 57 means she's a mutt, obvious mixed breed. But like you said you don't care, so as long as you love her then call her a Lab if you want to.
I have a mixed Lab/Beagle adopted pet and she is the most beautiful dog in the world. She has all the markings of a black and tan Lab but is sorta on the short side! I say she is a Lab! Her name is Memphis Blue.

She could be a mix of several breeds. That is why the dog catcher said Heinz 57. Just love her and don't worry about what mix she is. Congrats on your new puppy.

First of all, congrats on your new pup! The markings you are describing go along with a lab. take her to the nearest park where people walk there dogs-and ask what people think. Most people are friendly- I am sure you will get lots of ideas of what she could be.

I watched a show on public television that showed how DNA test could determine which tribes the ancestors of African Americans came from, but there is no DNA test to show what mix your mutt is. It seems that different breeds of dogs are more closely related than different races of human.

Is she big like a lab? If she looks like a lab she's probably part lab.
Why don't you post a picture of her. Then people can make a better guess.

I've been showing and training for 43 years and it took nearly 12 years to figure out what the other "half" is on my one old girl ....well, I think we figured it out but then on the other hand....

There is no real way of finding out. I have a white dog that I asked the vet what she is and he could not tell me. He can only guess. We looked on line to see if we can find the bread she looks like it is very hard to find out. But you can only ask it won't hart.

It is hard to tell, can you take a picture of her and post it? The black recessive gene is there in a lot of breeds. You can see all black Irish Setter mixes. So, it depends on what she looks like.

i would look thru a dog book that lists all the breeds, she is probably lab and border collie, with a few more tossed in. i have a heinz 57, he has border collie, sheltie, and llaso apso, and all i can see in him is apso. enjoy your mutt, they are the best.
