im looking for a picture retouching program like GIMP but not gimp because whenever i type in gimp the whole application quits!!! someone please tell me what r some good programs that i can install for free?!!!

Sounds like you've got a problem with GIMP.
Well, unless you went to Walmart or some other store that has a photo processing lab, you're kinda' stuck in the area of free spectrum.
And no, I refuse to even mention torrents or P2P in this instance...

Paint.Net 2.0 is free, and lets you retouch/edit .jpeg and other picture files.
You really get what you pay for in the software world, so if you can afford to purchase Photoshop, i would suggest to because it is much faster.

Google has a really nice free program called Picassa. Just go to google and search for it. Its pretty easy to use. Microsoft digital imaging is a good one, search for it.
