Wow, if anyone really had the answer to this, they would win the Nobel Peace Prize, because we could settle the issue of truth once and for all. The people who are wrong would have to admit, "oh...so THAT'S the truth", and the world's problems would be solved.
Not everything can be truth. Truth, by definition, must be an absolute, because anying that is different from truth, is by default not true anymore. For example, if it really is the truth is that Jesus died for our sins, then any ideas that say otherwise cannot also be truth. Therefore, anyone who says that it is o.k. for everyone to have their own truth also thinks that it is o.k. for a lot of people to be walking around deluded by lies.
Why do people care so much about the truth??? There definitely seems to be something inside of us that longs to know the truth, or else there would not be people fighting over this. Is it just an evolutionary advantage to want to know the truth? The way people kill for what they perceive as truth would seem to contradict this. To understand what "The Truth" actually is, I think we may first need to find out why we are so driven to find the truth.
I am tempted to say that truth is written on our consciences, and we need to tap into that, but this sounds a little wishy-washy, because obviously the practice of finding out what is inside of us has resulted in a lot of people claiming that contradictory things are all truths. Islam and Hinduism can't both be true, for example, and I am sure that there are Muslims and Hindus that both believe they have the truth.
When it all comes down to it, I think that we have to admit that we have to earnestly seek truth. This is hard, because our past experiences with our families and cultures may alter this search. I think that if we examine what people say in different religions, including atheism, with a mind that is both critical and earnestly seeking, then we can elminate things that don't make sense, and eventually find "The Truth'. If we just accept our religion based on thoughts like "That's what everyone here believes", or "That's the way my parents raised me", or "I'm afraid I'll go to Hell", or "I'm most comfortable here," ; then we really haven't found truth, and our search must continue.
If there is a higher being that loves you and cares for you, and you ask this being for guidance to know the truth, and you seriously mean that you want the truth (and not just an affirmation that whatever you were doing before was right), if this being really exists, he WILL help you find the truth. If he doesn't exist, the search continues....

The Holy Bible Douay-Rheims Version
With Challoner Revisions 1749-52
1899 Edition of the John Murphy Company
IMPRIMATUR:
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, September 1, 1899.
Pope Damasus assembled the first list of books of the Bible at the Roman Council in 382 A.D. He commissioned St. Jerome to translate the original Greek and Hebrew texts into Latin, which became known as the Latin Vulgate Bible and was declared by the Church to be the only authentic and official version, in 1546.
The DR New Testament was first published by the English College at Rheims in 1582 A.D. The DR Old Testament was first published by the English College at Douay in 1609 A.D. The first King James Version was not published until 1611. This online DRV contains all 73 books, including the seven Deutero-Canonical books (erroneously called Apocrypha by Protestants). These seven books were included in the 1611 KJV, but not in later KJV Bibles.
The whole Douay-Rheims Bible was revised and diligently compared with the Latin Vulgate by Bishop Richard Challoner in 1749-1752 A.D. The notes included in the text were written by Dr. Challoner.
The DR Bible was photographically reproduced from the 1899 edition of the John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland, by Tan Books in 1971. Eventually, this edition was optically scanned to produce a large text file which this publisher used for creating this website, with the aid of text-processing software.
One important goal of this project was to preserve the original text "as is", without making any changes in the wording, because the original text had the Imprimatur of James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, dated Sept 1st 1899.
The text file was checked quite thoroughly by software written by the publisher for punctuation errors and verses out of order. The index was humanly checked for misspelled words and the corrections were made to the text. However, some spelling errors may still be present in the text. Many verses were out of order in the original file. These have been corrected.
Every effort was made to ensure that this online version is an exact match to the original printed version. No words were added or ommitted from the text, except for correcting errors caused by the scanning process. No words were rearranged. No verse numbers were changed, except in the case of Psalm 9.
Psalm 9 originally contained 21 verses and there were 2 versions of Psalm 10, numbering 1-18 and 1-8. This obviously caused a conflict, so it was decided to make the first Psalm 10 as the last part of Psalm 9 and renumber the verses 22-39. This retains the same numbering as all the Douay Rheims. Note, in the Protestant Bibles the numbering of Psalms 10 through 146 differs by one.

Well, I do not ask questions like that so I can not reply THAT query. You are conscious that, logically, evolution is ridiculously unimaginable? What I surprise is, "Why do not any of those evolution fans ever give an explanation for how on this planet a mobile 'makes a decision' to do anything as opposed to reflect itself adequately?" In truth, that procedure is usually referred to as, "Cancer" and it KILLS the host organism. Seriously, we've a wide variety of average "this mutated into this, which in flip mutated into this" junk floating round however has someone ever OBSERVED an organism evolving? Not genetic resolution, now, that is no longer what I'm speaking approximately. Sure, if simplest tall folks get married and feature kids, populations gets taller. But give an explanation for to me at what identifiable factor cells begin replacing on their possess and species "grow to be new species." At what factor does the little legless organism's DNA come to a decision, "I believe we're going to develop a few nubs at present. Ready men? Okay. MUTATE!" How approximately, "surprise dual powers, turn on?? Form of ______ Shape of ______" I'm most likely no longer a scientist. But I'm asking a major query. Show me how this works on a cell stage and exhibit me the duplication outcome. Then I'll be inclined to bear in mind this "concept" as a feasible notion.

Its a personal thing. Lets see if I can elaborate. Muslims think they have it, Jews think they do, Christians think they do. There is no way to determine wich is accurate, or has the most truth, so it is based in faith. Faith, and the truth that comes from it, is personal. Personal expierence, feeling, or even logical thought and study that determines the personal truth to each person individually. In religion, there is no absolute truth, hence the need for faith.

Well, first of all, why believe in anything if you don't believe it is the only truth. I have friends of many religions, but I know in my heart, that mine is the TRUTH. I have seen miracles. I have felt Christ within myself, within my heart. I see Him in my daily life in tangible ways that are more than mere coincidence.
The Bible speaks to any and every situation that life can throw at you.
The bottom line is FAITH. Faith in the Bible, Faith in the Lord that created the universe....faith like a child.

Harry Potter and the Bible?
I study it, the source documents, and the original language when at all possible. I look at at what other scholars have proffered.
Someday I'll do that with the Bible, too.

Harry Potter comes from the imagination of one individual. The Bible is a historical document written by many authors. It is steeped in fact, prophecy and eyewitness accounts. Whether you choose to believe it or not is what matters. It's called Faith. You believe or you don't. It's as simple as that. I've read all six Harry Potter books and was thoroughly entertained, as was the intent of the author. I've also read the Bible and was thoroughly changed, as was the intent of the Creator, in my belief. Whether you agree with me or not, that was my choice. You get to make your own.

Your truth may not be my truth. My truth is based on the Bible. I don't think God intended there be MANY ways to interpret it. I think Man has done that all on his own because they want to excuse and justify wrong doing when it suits them.

The reason I know I have the truth is because i follow the Church that Jesus himself founded. This church has the fullness of the truth of the Christian faith. Christ told His church that He would be with us until the end. The holy spirit works through the magisterium to interpret the bible. Im talking about the Catholic church.
God bless,
Shane
