the sunfire has about 128,000 miles.

The mileage is fairly close so choose the one in the best condition... tires, brakes, paint, upholstery, rust, how does is start, run, shift, steer. Check Kelly wholesale blue book, both should be cheap.

You do know Cavalier and Sunfire are twins?

I personally wouldn't buy either unless they're under $2k.

I used to own a 90 Cavalier Z24 and it was a great car for me but I was young and stupid and had never driven a Japanese car up to that point. My next car was an Acura and it just blew away the Cavalier in terms of refinement and reliability. It was nice not having to turn up the radio due to heavy wind/road noise and rattles.

I did drive a 1997 Sunfire rental and it was one of the WORST cars I have ever driven. The fit and finish were terrible and the window didn't even go up all the way. Not to mention the cheap looking interior with what looked like a paper instrument panel.

I wouldn't choose between either of them. personally, I don't want anyone elses problem with a car, but if your really debating on either car, I would check out with carfax and check the make and model on there and see how the cars are and check them on vehix.com and make a comparison on both cars, because a car is a big purchase, and you don't want to have to put more money in a car then you need to. I would suggest looking else where for a car. From my own personal experiences. I will never buy used. I spent so much fixing one. I could have just bought a new one.

Same car, same build quality (pretty low). If you are getting a real deal then choose the one that you will be the least embarrased to be seen in.
