I think the question should have read " Has politics gotten to much religion to believe?

Religion is basically a political tool...

One of the fundamentals of any religion is that it's followers are in agreement and willing to conform to a standard ideal. Politics isn't the reason not to believe... it's the nonsensical foundations of a religion that might make it unpalatable. Walking on water...? Life after death...? Really...?

To rational clear-thinking people religion has always been difficult to believe in regardless of its place in politics or commercialism

True Christians do not meddle in politics. Jesus said that his followers would be no part of the world. See John 15:19.

Any church in any nation, that has a national flag by the podium is too political and nationalistic, rather than theocratic like it should be.
