I got married in a court house about 30years ago - with our immediate families present & felt that the whole thing had a warm feeling to it - I had been expecting things to be a bit cold & impersonal.
may have been because of the presence of the families- brother;sisters ; parents & respective partners for all (15people) - I have 4 siblings ; husband 1;
I would do the same again if ever I were to re-marry .
I was also ""best man"" for a male friend when he got married for the 2nd time in a court house ceremony- with just the 2 witnesses- 6 people total; bride/groom; her 3y/o son; 2 witnesses; JOP:
both occassions relaxed & stress free.
saves a LOT of hassles & money - that can probably be better used elsewhere
if you wish to you can always have a "celebration" party a few days later with other friends / family - even "pot-luck" evening
CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK

By law, all marriages require you to say vows. That's why you have an officiant (be it a judge or a pastor) there with you. He/she is there to ascertain that you are there of your own free will, and that no one has kidnapped you or coerced you into getting married for untoward reasons. Therefore, yes, you will have the same legal vows as if you were in a quaint little church in Mayberry USA. However, no it won't be a romantic venue for your vows, unless you consider being together no matter where you are, romantic. Which leads me to my point. If you're not going to have a big party afterward (of course you can save that party for whenever/wherever you want - I have no problem with that - Celebrate your marriage a million times, for all I care, maybe we all should!!!) why not find a sweet little church or park or wooded area and hire an officiant to marry you there? It won't cost that much, if any, more than getting married IN the courthouse. You just have to plan ahead more. It would be infinitely more romantic than the courthouse.

Ours was great. We could choose a reverend or a Judge and we went for the reverend. It was a decently religious ceremony and the reverend was wearing a Bears sweatshirt. He apologized about 10 times for wearing it, explaining he had been running late and just got back from visiting his son at college. I don't know how my wife felt about it, but I thought it was great. The ceremony was intimate, nice and quick. We did that back in May and decided to proceed with a ceremonial wedding in October in Puerto Vallarta. It was great because all the legal stuff was out of the way and we were already at our honeymoon destination when the wedding was over.

Got married in City Hall by the Mayor. Feels the same really as if you were outside or in a church really. I mean it was very simple (if simple is what you and him want) and the mayor did his best to make everyone feel at ease but your just as nervous as you would be anywhere else.....at least I felt that way.
It is a big day in your life to spend the rest of your life with the one you love..........it really don't matter where you get married too.

you go and sign in, fill out the forms for the marriage licence, then pay the fee. Wait for afew they call you into this small room , you say your vows then you get married. Usually they need 2 witness. The whol ething takes no longer then 15 minutes.

It's pretty much the same as if you got married in Vegas. We got the license, had a couple of witnesses, exchanged rings, and that was that. There was no stress and hoopla as with a church wedding and it was whole lot less expensive and very practical!!!

It was wonderful. My mom and sister was there. They brought a Hubert the Harris Lion for a wedding gift and took pictures. One of the memories was Groom took the lion into the judges chambers and the judge thought it was his cuddle. She asked if I really wanted to marry him. Of course, I said yes. Then she told him to put his dolly down. It was very funny. We've been married 25 years now, so it works.

my ex and I got married in a courthouse on valentine's day. despite the outcome of the marriage, the ceremony was nice, and short, which left more time for us to spend together. we had 2 witnesses and that was it. very simple, quick, stress-free, and cheap.

My ex-husband and I were married in a courthouse. Having a wedding at the same place where I pay my traffic tickets was very un-romantic.
