I feed my dog cat food for a treat. But his fur is still there. So I don't think it would effect his fur or body. So I would take him to the vet, because he obviously has some kind of problem. The sooner the better.Put the cat food up higher or put the dog outside while the cats eat.

Did they send out a fecal to a lab to test for giardia? We've seen a lot of giardia lately in the clinics. If she's 100% negative for parasites, I would look into food allergies. I have a cat that showed similar symptoms, and after treating her several times for GI upset, I met a vet that recommended switching her to a raw food medallion. I was always against raw food diets, but I gave it a try and my kitty hasn't had a problem since. Your vet can find good recommendations on VIN. You should ask them to do some research for you or find a vet that will. That being said, it sounds like your vet took the right course of action up to this point. Next, you need to see if there's an underlying cause to all this vomiting and diarrhea. Good luck!

Dogs don't lose their hair because they eat cat food. It might be fleas.Bath her in oatmeal shampoo to help with her skin. Put the cat food up higher, because it is not good for her.Make sure you teach her that that is not her food.
I use to have the same problem with my dogs taking the cat's food. I did not put up with it. My dogs will not touch the cat food now, because I taught them to leave it a lone.
How you do it is. When you see her going for the cat's food you tell her with a strong voice NO!
Good Luck! and remember you are the pack leader. Don't allow your dog to run your house hold.

I don't know if the hair loss is related, but dog food is made specifically to meet the dogs' nutritional needs, and the cat food is specifically made for cats' needs. It's not a good idea to let your dog eat cat food. I feed my cats up on a counter and put my dogs' bowls of food and water on the floor in the kitchen. Usually hair loss is related to allergies. Please check with your vet.

Possibly. Cats and Dogs have very different dietary needs. Dogs are omnivores (eat plants and meat) while cats are strictly carnivores. They don't digest plant food well, they need meat. If you are feeding your dog cat food, your dog isn't getting the nutrition he needs. Bad nutrition=unhealthy coat and the hair may fall out a bit. When you feed your cat, keep the dog out of the room.

cat food is extremely high in protien and dogs don't need as much as cat's. An over abundance of it can make a dog lose hair.
I was a vet's ***'t when i was in college.

well i dont really know if it can cause hair loss, but cat food is definitely bad for dogs. try keeping the food bowl on a high place that your cat can get to by jumping up to it but your dog can't

any food can make a dog loose its hair if it has a food allergy to something in it. Food allergies are very common in dogs for some reason especially white dogs.

Cat food, dog food...same thing just a different label on the can. Your dogs shedding is not related to that.
Is she under some kind of stress maybe? Little kids, other pets, that sort of thing...
