What advice do you have for someone who is very insecure around men and can never tell if someone is interested in them. I am a confident woman in every other area of my life, but when it comes to relationships and men I'm a complete mess.

Actually my advice would be the opposite of "Loofa's". Instead of worrying about what a guy thinks of you, you should start to think about what you want in a possible life's' partner. This is called "courting" and is much better than dating. You no longer are focused on yourself but on the others, freeing you to be you. Instead of looking at how you should talk, you look at how they talk. Are they intellectual, humorous, Stoic, or arrogant. Instead of looking at your choice of attire, what's he wearing? Is he a sharp dresser, a scrounge, a bit over the top? etc.... It's all in the perspective. When you take your eyes off yourself you see men for what they really are instead of what you hope they are. Good Luck!

Don't push yourself into uncomfortable situations, but allow yourself more exposure to social settings so you can learn to interact with people, young, old and in between. Observe your friends in social situations. Get some books and read about interacting with individuals. Join a group therapy where you can learn interaction. Join clubs of various kinds, a chess club, drama club, 4-H club, etc. Good luck!

Practice talking to friends and family...don't look at every male you speak to as a potential mate...the more you practice..the more comfortable you will be...good luck
