Is it appropriate to put yellow ribbons in trees and flags in yards? or is that just for memorial day? Anyone doing anything special on Nov 11th?
did you notice yahoo doesnt have veterans day as a holiday yet it has ramadam?

Yes,but many people do not display the US flag in a proper manner.
Displaying the Flag
* When the national flag is displayed flat, either horizontally or vertically, on a wall or in a window, the union (blue field) should be at the top and to the observer's left when facing the flag.
* When displayed from a staff projecting from a windowsill, balcony, or the front of a building, the union (blue field) should be at the staff's peak (unless the flag is at half-staff).
* The U.S. Flag Code, adopted in 1923 and amended by Public Law 94-344 in 1976, states "It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset ... However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the darkness hours.
* When displayed on a stage or platform, the national flag should be to the speaker's right. Any other flag is on the speaker's left.
* When suspended, the flag should be vertical with the union to the north over an east-west street and to the east over a north-south street. The flag should be hoisted out union (blue field) first.
* Flag decals and stickers may be correctly displayed on the inside of motor vehicle side windows.
I CAN'T STAND IT WHEN IS IN THE SHAPE OF CLOTHING AND ESPECIALLY AS UNDERWEAR !!!
FLAGS at the cemetary are THROWN IN THE GARBAGE and the CEREMONIAL WAY OF "RETIRING" IS NOT DONE.

You can decorate for Veterans Day, seems to me the yellow ribbons are more appropriate for it than for Memorial Day. And who knows anything about Yahoo?

Being patriotic is always appropriate. There's no reason you should ever NOT have a flag, yellow ribbon, or other supportive items up!!!

For Veteran's Day we usually place flags in the yard. And we fly our son's Army & company flags .
Hadn't noticed Veteran's Day was missing from the holidays list.

i understand many veterans.....They love their u . s . a . and their flag. Fly your flag proudly on Veteran's day. AND, this is usa, beautify whenever you prefer to. Our Veterans fought which you may have that good.

the proper decoration is a Poppy flower. you can get one for a $1 donation at your local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. proceeds of each poppy goes to the VFW retirement home.
