Is it possible to have highlights and lowlights put in your hair at the same time? How do they do it?

Also, do they always do caps on guys hair or do they use foils sometimes too?

Yes, is possible to have highlights and lowlights put in at the same time. I'm not sure how they would do it using a cap, unless they did the highlights first then rinsed it out and did the lowlights. I know that when they use foils they will simply alternate the colors they use with each foil. Weither they use caps or foils generally isn't based on gender, rather by the length of hair.

It is possible, in fact preferable, to do highlights and lowlights at the same time. Highlights lighten the hair a few shades lighter than the natural hair, and low lights darken it a few shades. Weaving the different colors through the hair with foils gives a much more natural, multi-tonal color scheme than an all-over radical color change. To put in highlights and lowlights, the stylist will alternate colors in foils throughout your hair, sometimes using 2, 3, 4 or even 5 different colors to give a natural look. Combination high and low lights cannot be done with a cap.

It is possible to have both done at the same time. If you want foils ask them for foils. Myself, I prefer foils because they know exactly where the hair is going to be highlighted, with the cap you cannot tell the exact spot.

I have highlights and lowlights put in at the same time whenever I get my hair done -- it's done using foils... no cap.

highlights is when you put lighter color on your hair and lowlights is when you put darker colour. And yes you can put it at the same time but you have to let the professional to avoid disaster.
For guys they can use comb with big teeth and aluminum foil.
cap if they have long hair and they want fine and settle result. Aluminum foil is for trendy and no pain.

You should but those pack things where you dye your hair in 10 minutes- because I've heard they are excellent! But other than that... I'm not sure since I have never had my hair dyed but I will get highlights soon! You can also have two people doing you hair at once or in the shower/ bath you can buy those packs things for highlights *darker colours get low lights and use two in one shower/bath time.

WELL I AM A HAIR STYLIST AND YOU CAN DO LOWLITES AND HILITES AT THE SAME TIME. DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOUR HAIR IS....IF IT IS UNDER 2 INCHES LONG, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT FOILS IN. YOUR STYLIST WOULD HAVE TO MIX UP A LIGHTENER AND THEN A DARKER COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE, THEN PULL IT THROUGH A CAP AND PUT THE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS ON DIFFERENT STRANDS...WHY WOULD YOU WANT HILITES AND LOWLITES??? JUST CURIOUS.....IF IT IS LONG ENOUGH TO DO FOILS, THEN THEY WOULD JUST ALTERNATE THE LIGHTENER AND LOW LITE MIXTURE.....GOOD LUCK

just go get this done by a pro. they will do it the right way with the foil. there is a reason why cosmetologists go to school for this.
