I just have to say you're a very sweet girl for doing that. They're lucky to have such a caring daughter.
I don't have kids but I can tell you that the best thing to do would be the restaurant. I'm afraid I'm Canadian so I can't tell you which place they could go for dinner. But you know the places in town better than anyone would online. Go check out your phone book, then give the place a call and ask about gift certificates.

Very nice Idea. At least they raised a considerate child BRAVO A restaurant gift card would probably be better than a movie especially if you volunteer to keep the siblings and Don't let mom get worn out trying to get the house in order before they leave. She may get too tired and decide NOT to go. You might also talk to DAD and let him in on it so he can be prepared and get ready and wont be too tired. Sometimes Parents don't like sudden plans if BOTH of them are unaware then they may not want to go Good LUCK and again BRAVO GOOD JOB

I think your idea is wonderful. My husband and I are 40, and have 5 children from 4 to 16. We rarely get time together or go on dates. Honestly...I would enjoy dinner more, because it would give us time to talk. However....most men think talk is over-rated and your dad might like the movie idea better for himself. In the end though...making your mom happy will make your dad happy, and the house is a nicer place to be when moms are happy.

I'm 36 and been married for 15 years and have 5 kids.My oldest is also 14 years old, for 18 more days anyway.I would much rather have a nice quiet dinner out with my wife.We could talk one on one with no interruptions. A movie is nice to but you cant get that one on one.

you are a sweet child...the fact that you thought about them is beond measure. May I sugest something, if it's not something you can afford...talk to a relitive about all of you spending the night at their house. Tell them your plans and that your bank account is on hold at the moment.
maybe you can do something for them to spend time alone at home. that way they wont be worried about you guys through dinner. Then if it is possible, take what you can afford and by them a dinner that you can bring home ..tell them to go get dressed, set the table, and present it to them, at the same time, make sure your relative is there to take you guys home with them, have a card from all you guys stating, what you feel, have everyone sign it, you can give crayons to the young ones...means the same. They will know you are safe, they can relax more and enjoy themselves.

Try to arrange for the kids to go to someones house, you go with them to help and give them a quite evening at home. Maybe put a roast in the oven for dinner and candles on the table, then leave for 4-5 hours. A few hours alone would be great for your parents.

Restaurant. That way they can talk. Get a card for everyone to sign and make a little contract on the left side of the card that says: "We, John and Mary, promise to not talk about our children while we're on our date." Then have them sign the contract. This date is for them and about their relationship. This is a great idea you thought up.

AT the bank you can get Visa or AMerican Express gist cards than they can choose where to use it. Also some malls do that too -- it'd be good at any place in the mall, so if it had a movie theater and a few restuarants they could choose.
