"off key" means that you are not singing the notes properly or in tune. "on key" means you're all good =D

can you read music? if you can't sing above D one octave above middle C without straining then you may feel more comfortable as an alto.

remember to use your diaphragm when you sing! if you use only your throat then it will hurt.

It sounds as though you are most comfortable in the alto range. I would start there. The more you sing, the more you will stretch your voice and you may find that eventually you will be able to hit the higher notes. As far as singing on key is concerned, the best thing to do is to record yourself and then play it back and see if it sounds right.
Maybe you your parents will allow you to take voice lessons. A private vocal teacher can help you to work all of these things out. You don't necessarily have to take lessons forever, but even a few lessons will help you to improve.

i'm not sure. i play the violin, but we had concerts with the band and choir when i was in middle school, so i think you're an alto? because that's right in the middle and i've seen viola music before and i've heard the little mermaid song, too. almost everyone i know can sing, exept for me. i just cant. my voice could be really low or a little bit high at random moments, and i cant control my voice when i talk really. if i ever sing, it will only be if my french teacher makes us sing the alphabet or nursery rhymes, or that my orchestra teacher make us sing our parts, and we go duh-duh-duh-duh-duh all the time and nothing works out because no one could sing the squeaky high 1st violin notes and the super dooper low bass notes. just ask other people how they think about you singing whan they hear you sing.

there's a tea you need to purchase interior the food market called Throat Coat. determine you brew it coated for 5 minutes until eventually now ingesting it. That stuff stored me while i replaced into Maria in Sound Of music and that i had laryngitis. i ended up getting a job from somebody who observed the teach that night. relax your voice, and make sure you do a mushy heat up until eventually now making a music the following day. And as on your instructor, take her aside until eventually now classification and clarify to her which you have a sore throat, and which you're a soprano. If she is a professional, she will understand, and could be waiting to tell the standard of your voice, regardless of while you're ill. in case you relax your voice and look after your wellness via ingesting lots of water and ingesting healthful, you need to be back on the right music on your auditions that are bobbing up. additionally ask your instructor or vocal coach for help and suggestion on your audition.

"Part of That World" isn't a high note kind of song, really, and you still might be a Soprano even though you can't think you sing those high notes.

Do you really want to join this musical? If you've got enough motivation and think you can get in, then it can't hurt to at least try and audition.
