Be careful, if you get in and they find out you can get discharged as "Medically Unfit". Most armed forces in the world where service is voluntary take asthmatics, as there are numerous jobs where you do not need to be 100% fit. Ring up recruitment (anonmymous) and ask them the question.
I was an ex asthmatic and I hid my previous medical condition from the Air Force for over 30 years, they never knew.

I'm a member of the Great British Army and have several friends there who have asthma albeit not severe. the only way to find out if your asthma is not too severe is to have an Army medical.
I'd strongly advise you going to speak to an Army Careers Advisor. They offer impartial advice and do not pressure you into joining up; they should be able to answer your question.

Hope to have been of help.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

First of all you have to not be subscribed medication for asthma for for years,This is is the same for all services. See your doctor because people do grow out of it. People that get it while their in the service will usually have a medical board then job evaluation and if not successful on either of these will be discharged medically.

I believe you can join the Army if you have not had any medication prescribed for asthma for 4 years.

before you consider doing this...... go sleep in a car/truck/van for one night in winter.

there is a reson why armies put these conditions to joining.

you may be required to sleep out in tents/trucks or old barracks when its very cold ......... asthmatics tend to get respiratory problems from cold weather. makes life very hard. also every second person around you will probably smoke ... another problem for asthmatics.
put the two together ....... forget about it.

Yes, they like you to be strong and fit, ready for killing, not all weaky and hesitant.

Do the bright thing, forget joining armies.

If you suffer respiratory disease, you will not be accepted by the HM Armed Forces.
