Wow! First of all, as a citizen I can't understand why anyone would steal a car/truck (that's what it is) let alone a gun from a Police Officer! Second, as a law enforcement officer I would tell you that your boyfriend is probably very lucky he didn't get shot. Understanding that I don't know all of the details and assuming the gun was taken from the officers person the mere act of wrestling over the gun escalates the situation to one of deadly force. So you're lucky he's only facing jail time rather than a hospital bill or funeral. In Texas, he'll probably do some time anywhere else he'd probably get probation. Good luck and I hope you find someone else who'll think about you rather than his own selfish needs!

He's screwed. Sorry, but the fact that he has stolen a truck and a police officers gun looks incredibly bad. He had better get a good lawyer. He could be looking at serious time, and may even lose his right to own a gun.

Ouch. Ashley im sorry to say you may want to find yourself a new man. He's looking at a good time for the poss. of stolen firearm even if it was the cops or not. I don't know b/c its his first time but hes defenitly going to do a good 90 days to say the least! and thats the least if he can have some kind of good legal defense.

I would go with 5 to 10 years, if he did not actually steal the officers gun, if he gives up the real theft, he may get a much better deal.
Because it is a officers gun, they are going to go for the max on it ( my guess)

This all depend on the judge hearing the case. He could give him the max, if he wants to, or just let him off with a lighter sentence. It may be 3-5 years in the pokey.
