God didn't invent tonsils they are part of a millions-old evolutionary process. And while it is only a recent discovery, they are actually part of the body's immune system and are no longer taken out routinely if it can be helped.

Well tonsils are what releases white blood cells to help your body fight infections when you are sick. This is why you have a sore throat. Doctors used to remove tonsils quite regularly but when this bit of information came to light, they only began removing them in extreme circumstances.
