I'm at college and I feel like everyone around me drinks. I don't so I'm kind of an outcast. I don't go to parties that much because all everyone does there is drink. Am I alone here?

I never drank (much) in college (usually). I just didn't "get" why getting wasted was supposed to be so much fun. I wasn't a complete teetotaler, though. I do like wine and beer. But......maybe if you feel like everyone around you is drinking (and quite possibly being stupid also) maybe you should make an attempt to acquaint yourself with the sorts of people that also do not drink. Parties can be disgusting, but there are others out there that don't drink.

I have dealt with the same thing all my life. I am 25 now, but still I feel like I am the only one in the world left who doesn't drink.
It causes issues in every circle I am in. I work for the fire dept here and of course that excludes my from many parties, outings etc, because people don't like having the one sober guy around.
When I am dating someone who drinks, it always bothers them more that I don't drink, than it bothers me that they do. So there's always tension there.
I just remind myself of why I made this decision. It always makes me feel better about it when I hear about the stupid stuff people are doing when they do......and half of them don't remember it!

You just found a partner I hate drinkin but I love parties I go for all parties and guess what I do Get a coke and pretend its a drink.Don't get influensed.Drinkin kills go have fun at parties but watch ur limits.Enjoy the party but NEVER touch a drink anyway need a pal subhashini1993@yahoo.com always there for advice.Remember Drinkin damages ur lungs.Parties rox so go have some fun dancin

Good for you. Don't tell anyone you don't drink. Just walk around with a glass of water and lemon, and if anyone says anything just say "I'm taking a break, I'm dehydrated, or pacing myself" No one needs know your business.
If you draw attention to yourself or constantly say, no I don't drink...I'll tell you right now it pisses those people off because they can't control their drinking, they want to "ruin" you...much the same way those girlfriends who lose their virginity want to see you devirginized and part of their club. Never do what you don't feel comfortable doing. Plain and simple.
Say I hate beer if beer is all they are drinking. Always say you just drink vodka and water...that way no one will know you're just drinking water. I know it's best to just say I don't drink, but if friends rat you out, say piss on you, walk out and go home. You don't need that crap.
You can always just walk around holding a beer too and not drinking it. Stop and get a drink of water when you want it.
Of course you can always just say I don't drink and feel GOOD about yourself. Chances are there are others who really don't want to be drinking and may just join you.

It's cool. When I was in school I didn't care if someone didn't want to drink, as long as they didn't care if I did. We still had a ball talking, cutting up, and meeting people. Socializing was the fun part, not the end result of a hangover. Enjoy your friends and their company!

I didn't drink in college either and I didn't feel like an outcast. I was the designated driver, though. I usually drank Perrier, Pellegrino , or 7up

First off, Congrats! its a great thing that you dont drink! drinking is awful and is a bad habbit. i dont drink either! i am also pregnant, and i wouldnt dare drink! but you should be proud of yourself that you dont drink, cause you are in college, and you have better things to be doing than drinking, like... Studying! lol but yeah good job!

well that means you don't wake up and and wonder what you done last night,or have regrets.its a good thing not to drink.i drink when i was young,now i never drink maybe a beer once in a while.all it does is make you pee.you are not missing anything
