Whenever I turn my TV on, it makes this really loud, obnoxious sound. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

Everytime I turn the TV on, a really loud noise occurs. The picture is fine. I've tried switching outlets and messing with the cables in back and the ones connected to the wall. It's very loud and I can't change the volume of the noise; it sounds like it's coming from inside the TV. The noise gets higher the longer the TV is left on, kind of like it's going to explode. It's kind of a gravelly noise? It's happened before, but it went away in the hour. Now it's been over a day. Any suggestions?

Ive worked on all tvs for 32 years...you dont say the age or brand, but lately Ive heard a lot of noisey yokes..the copper coils that do the deflection around the neck of the picture tube. The coils get a vibration going, and it can either get louder or quieter as time goes on ..yokes are fairly $$, and the newer ones are permatatly bonded on the neck= (non replaceable), but Ive fixed many of them with superglue. Keep set off, and liberally coat all these windings everywhere 2 or 3 times with about 3-4 tubes of superglue, letting it dry between coats. When all is finally dry, try the set again, the problem will proububly be fixed ..a good repair for under $10.00!

I think that it may be the speakers, can you try running the sound thorough your stereo or headset and see if the noise continues? I sadly just had to buy a new tv as the sound totally went on mine.
