Do NOT get a puppy at this stage in your life. It would not be fair to the dog if things don't work out. You already have a dog. So, apparently that isn't filling your void. After you move and the holidays are over, then MAYBE re-consider the puppy. If you two are so in love, then marriage is surely in your future. Maybe you could consider adopting a baby when the time is right.

This is a little complicated. You can't fill the empty space of not having a child with a dog. If you really feel like you have to fulfill you desire to be a mom, get a sperm donor, or adopt. But don't try to compromise your right to be a mom just because you don't want to leave your boyfriend. Is not right... a dog is great but when you get one for the right reasons. If you need to move in the near future, I don't think is a good idea to get a dog. Later you will move and will just take a trip to the local animal shelter to dispose your inconvenience... so sad, but that's what dogs become when you don't get them for the right reason.

I would suggest that you obey your Mom's wishes and honer her decision,as most Moms know best.Wait til you move out and on your own before attempting to bring a dog into a home that isn't yours.Although dogs are like our children sometimes,I really don't think a dog can honestly take the place of a child, but very close. You alone will have to decide if your love your BF even if he can't produce children, and be willing to live with your decision.

Only get the dog if you plan to keep it and can take it where you move. They need love and stability just as we do and they deserve a loving home and master. The love of a dog is unconditional. Dogs brought into nursing homes have helped improve senior citizens outlook. They have caused people to heal faster. Just be responsible if you get the dog.

Well since you live with your Mom and she already said no then no don't get a dog. I assume its your Moms house and she has the right to make the rules. Your only other option is to get your own place then get a dog. Good Luck KG

Get a dog. If you get a dog, please don't one of the dogs that look like rats . Get a little Laborador Retriever or Golden Retriver. I also had a lot of Pugs growing up and they are great and rather easy and loyal sweeties. No matter what you decide, they can be like kids. I have four kids and can't exactly compare, but it is wonderful and a very maternal thing to do. Lord knows the care of the dog is like mom's work too. Dogs have lots of love. Good luck.

Sounds to me like what you are really asking is if you should leave your man...do that, have kids, and get the kids a dog but never try to replace a child with a pet...or stay with him and adopt a dog and a baby...there are plenty of both out there.

The key phrase that I see is "We live with my mom." Then the next important phrase is "She said no..."
Respect your mom. Wait to get a puppy when you move into your own place. It will be fair to both your mom and the puppy: no tensions.
