Spirit is any alcoholic drink which is not classified as beer or wine.
Spirt is a distilled beverage.
A distilled beverage is a liquid preparation meant for consumption containing ethyl alcohol (ethanol) purified by distillation from a fermented substance such as fruit, vegetables, or grain. The word spirits generally refers to distilled beverages low in sugars and containing at least 35% alcohol by volume. Gin, vodka, rum, whiskey, brandy, absinthe, and tequila are types of spirits.

The first answer is right.
However a Brandy or a Cognac is a distilled wine and a Port is a sweet wine that has been fortified i.e., had a distilled wine added.
Ports are often included in lists of after dinner wines. But I have never heard them referred to a spirits.

I always understood Spirit to refer to distilled liquor and not wine. I.E., whiskey, vodka, gin etc...
