If you are looking for a real gold...like a shiny metallic gold....Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. can't help you. You will have to go to a finer paint store that carries the Benjamin Moore line. There is a paint...I do not recall the name of it, but I think it is a Benjamin Moore product...that has the lustre you are looking for. Since painting your walls metallic is not something most people do, I very much doubt you are going to find any pictures on-line. I would go to a Benjamin Moore dealer and ask one of the associates if they carry such a product or could make any recommendations. If they carry the rich, metallic latex paint I am thinking of....which looks very high-end, not cheap...they likely carry small, inexpensive samples so you can try out a couple of different shades on your wall to see what suits you. Though I have to warn you, this type of paint is rather expensive. (About $25.00 for a quart!) The best you will find at a discount retailer like Lowe's, are tiny little can's of metallic, suitable for small touch-up projects, only. They are typically oil-based, which is not the easiest thing to work with over such a large area!! You would literally need 100 or more to paint your entire bedroom! An alternative might be paint one main accent wall with the gold metallic, and the remaining walls in a more neutral color, like linen or a soft taupe. All that metallic paint might be too overwhelming for the space. Tie in the accent wall with metallic pieces, like a gold framed mirror, or even a dresser painted in the same metallic, and place the accent piece against one of the neutral walls. Hope this helps!!

Maybe you could buy gold wallpaper instead. If it's going to cost so much even to paint one wall, then you could paper that one wall. The effect would be WAY classier. There are wallpapers that mimic gilt ala Chinese screens. They are really gorgeous. If you could buy a few rolls, like the end of a run (if that is the terminology) then you might get a cheaper price. I'd do a search on it, including ebay. They won't have the stuff I am talking about at Lowe's or Home Depot. This kind of wallpaper is used in hotels and restaurants so it's very durable.
