A group of prisoners are trapped in a forcefield. These prisoners are perfectly brave, meaning that they would attempt an escape on any positive probability of success. The prisoners are monitored by a guard who has only one bullet in his gun, but who also has perfect marksmanship skills (he never misses). A maintenance technician needs to tune up the forcefield generator, and so for one second, the forcefield is released. How can the guard still keep all the prisoners detained?

Considering the fact that the human brain takes two tenths of a second to prosess information, it would be highly unlikley that in the corse of one second anymore than one inmate will actually make it out of the force feild. So as long as the inmates are not given the exact time that the force fieild will be down, the guard should have no problem.

when the technician turns off the forcefield, the guard fires a shot in a line where the forcefield was.... he should probably tell the prisoners he will do this...

I would say make them get into a dog pile and with only one second to escape only the top person could possibly have a chance at it and the one bullet would take care of that one.

I would fire off the one bullet in the air, as a warning shot. Then I would inform the prisoners, that I would not hesitate to shoot them should they make a false move.
Am I right? If not, it sounds good to me......lol

Have the prisoners stand one in front of the other. That way he could shoot all three of them with one bullet if they even move a whisker.

The guard pulls his gun out and aims it at them. He is the only one who knows that he only has 1 bullet.

Maybe tell someone else to remove the cork for you after all the question is how do u remove the coin without taking the cork out it doesn't means someone else cannot remove it
