It all depends on how you define "respect", and who is being respected. I must respect God above all others, including myself. Others come after God.

I didn't know any gay "couples" when I was getting married, but I did know some people living together without BEING married. I also knew a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship that was physically abusive. All these relationships are technically sinful.

Ok, with that thought in mind...

I cannot support a sinful relationship; it would be disrespectful to my God. I did not "support" my gal pal's staying with the abusive boyfriend, even though both were very happy I was getting married. I also did not "support" my relatives "concubinage" relationship, even though both were there when I was married. When the relationships were made right, I supported my friend who dumped her girl-smacking boyfriend, and rejoiced with the couple as they got married.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "support my marriage" or what would be required in return, but I do not believe it is moral to persecute and deny rights to persons who have caused no harm to others. Homosexuality harms no one. There is no reason to deny adult, consenting same-sex couples the rights and accompanying privileges granted by society to adult and consenting opposite-sex couples.

i have nothing against gay people. they live here on earth like the rest of us. they hunger and thirst, they get broken hearts, and all the rest that happens to us too. i would respect them. remember the story of the good Samaritan? they weren't so cool in biblical days. but Jesus was amazed that anyone helped the man. Jesus was also pleased that this happened. i know alot of Christians are against homosexuals - even hate them. i thought Jesus taught people to love everyone.

Gay couples have no say in what God pronounces as valid and sacred, anymore than straight couples do. However, Homosexuality is a sin according to God. I think, though, that as long as the couple in question are not being offensive aggressive with their bedroom antics in public (straight or gay) then whatever happens in the afterlife is between them and God.

I think it would all depend on what the issue was, not who the supporters are, or how they live their lives.

Marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Period.
If gays want to live together and want to demand attention I have no problem with this but don't call it marriage,,,,because it's not.
